[REQUEST] Dell Optiplex 330 unlocking
Hi, there goes the original backup bios:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/ch725x
i'd like to make my 2x2gb 800 ram sticks work in 667, now it's recognized by the system when i put my 1gb 667 together with the 2gb stick it's recognized but the memory doesn't count, and unfortunately now i can't force the 2gb to work in 667 by a retarded bios restriction. I'd like increase the frequency of refresh of the data banks so the memory won't have problems with natural discharge or corruption, that might make it work, but my bios is useless the way it's now. Sure, i could buy a new pc, but then i would still have a perfect condition computer going to the thrash, and since there's no cost of modding that it seems nice to turn on a machine and gain knowledge while i help another people. Fking business restrictions. Indeed i need to bypass SPD completely.

Control System Fan Setting - Crash Course
Hello Modders! This is my first venture to this forum and to BIOS modding as well!
The point of this thread is twofold.
A. I'd like a crash course to the whole BIOSModding experience
B. I'd like to add a "System Fan Speed" controller to my BIOS
My motherboard is a GA-H61M-D2-B3, running its stock Award BIOS.
It has control for the CPU fan (PWM and Voltage) but no control for the SystemFAN.
It displays the FAN speed of both CPU and System fans.
CPU header is a 4pin PWM, SystemFAN header is a 4pin nonPWM (according to the manual, 4th pin is "reserved")
So can I mod my BIOS to allow Voltage control for the system fan? What BIOS(mod) need I download and how would I install it? Any specific precautions and tips or tricks? Blocks of text or links to articles are welcome!
Thanks in advance.

Help with ES on X11DPi motherboard
Hello everyone,
I am trying to use a ES Xeon Platinum 8124 on X11DPi motherboard. These are customized chips for Amazon AWS C5 platform. The one I have has Q-spec QLJV. I believe it's a stepping 2 chip. Attached is a photo of the product detail from Intel database.
This chip was known to work on X11DPH motherboard with certain BIOS but I'm trying to use it with X11DPi. I have tried released Bios 1.0, 1.0b and 2.0 however it does not post. I used a debug card module and it shows 00. The motherboard is brand new and tested good with other CPUs.
I think there are two issues. Firstly, as you can see in the photo, this chip has a 240W TDP and this would exceed the power limit for the socket. This could prevent the motherboard from starting up. Secondly would be the microcode. I dig into the microcode and I compare all the BIOS versions, including non release version of X11Dpi, and they are have the same microcode patch for Pre-production CPUs. Screen shot attached and as you can see, CPU ID 0654 is production and 0650, 0651 and 0652 are all Pre-production codes. I flashed the BIOS and it still shows 00.
I also dig into AWS C5 platform information and apparently this is what I found.

I have experience using AWS processors with both Haswell and Broadwell architectures on X99 boards so I know for sure that they do work on consumer motherboards. Could anyone help me with the issue? I am willing to donate if anyone could modify the BIOS and make it work. Thanks!

[REQUEST] HP G72-259WM White list removal please
Hi, I'm new here, but not a n00b. I'll try to follow the instructions here.
https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-S...K-REQUESTS
I want to upgrade my WiFi card and bought an Intel 3160. After installing it I ran into the 'Unsupported Device' roadblock, which took me by surprise. It's an old machine, but after replacing the battery twice and the HDD at least once, the big, beautiful screen still looks great. I dual boot Arch Linux (which I prefer) and Win7 (which I use when necessary).
I don't know what is meant by 'Screenshot of your current setup menus', so I will attach a screenie of msinfo32.exe output. Anything else needed I'll be glad to provide. Thanks in advance.

[REQ] Add E5-1650v2 support to Asrock X79 Extreme 4-M
Hi, I spent hours trying to understand how to add e5 1650 v2 support to my Asrock X79 Extreme 4-M (matx), but I'm not able to do it.
It should be 100% supported by the hardware, it's just a i7-4930K after all (fully supported) AND the 1650 v2 is supported by the Extreme 4 (atx) motherboard.
When installed, the cpu doesn't allow the sistem boot at all (00 error code).
The cpu is fine, tested on an Asus X79 motherboard.
It has the MU063E0428 microcode (I used Sandra while testing on the Asus mb), I don't know if the information is relevant.
I tried to update cpu microcode using UBU_v1_69_15, everything was updated and the bios flashed, but that didn't solve the problem (still no boot).
I guess I have to manually add cpu support to the bios, not just update the old one, but I'm lost, I don't understand ho to do it.
Could someone please help?
Thank a lot.

[REQUEST] Aspire A615-51G Hidden Advanced Menu Unlock
Hi, I want to unlock the hidden menu on Acer A615-51G, it has a Intel 8250U processor which is capable to run at 3.4GHz, but as the TDP limit, it can run on that high frequency for about 10 second, after that , the frequency will drop to 2.5GHz as the ThrottleStop said PL1 limit, I use Intel XTU to unlock the PL1, no matter what I've set, the PL1 is still in function and limit the CPU frequency.
I've unpack the BIOS using Phoenix Tools and got the EFI from using IFR tool, the Power Limit Setting is located in VSS settign at 0x6B, 0x6F, 0x73. First I use insydeH20-advanced-settings-tools to modify the VSS setting, but without lock, the tool keep saying "can't set variable using efi(err = 0x00000008)", which is EFI_WRITE_PROTECT error define in grub, so I don't know how to do next. Could anyone kindly unlock the hidden menu for me. Thanks.

Photo for the BIOS:
I've unpack the BIOS using Phoenix Tools and got the EFI from using IFR tool, the Power Limit Setting is located in VSS settign at 0x6B, 0x6F, 0x73. First I use insydeH20-advanced-settings-tools to modify the VSS setting, but without lock, the tool keep saying "can't set variable using efi(err = 0x00000008)", which is EFI_WRITE_PROTECT error define in grub, so I don't know how to do next. Could anyone kindly unlock the hidden menu for me. Thanks.
