help needed: Managed to kill BIOS

OK, so some time back I asked for help regarding removing the whitelist for a Yoga 2 13. I received some help from a user here but when trying to flash the BIOS I encountered errors. Everything seemed to work fine afterwards until I restarted the computer. It greeted me with an error message that no operating system was detected (don't have the accurate wording right now). When entering the BIOS it sometimes detected my hard drive and sometimes it didn't...but never was I able to start the system.

I then tried to flash the BIOS with a cheap SPI programmer (CH341A) and a software that didn't officially support or detect my chip. This is when I really messed up. After that my computer went completely dead. Pressing the power button lights up the power led for a second or two and that's it. Screen does not come on, fan doesn't spin, no sound whatsoever.

By now I have flashrom running on my Raspberry PI and when I flash with that everything looks OK. Flashrom detects my chip correctly, erases, writes and verifies. Unfortunately the result is the same....laptop won't start.

One thing I noticed is that flashrom gave a warning that the bios file size did not match the chip size (file was smaller). So what I did is that I filled the end of the file with zeros. In that way I tried to flash both the bios dump that I created before I started this whole adventure as well as the modded bios file that I received from the helpful user. Neither worked.

I then also downloaded the current BIOS from the Lenovo support page and extracted the executable. I found a .ROM file which was too large (roughly 9MB instead of 8MB) so I just "cut off" the end of the file and flashed it. Results unchanged.

Does anyone have any idea what else to try? Is it correct to just fill the end of the bios dump with zeros to bring the file size to 8MB?

First of all wants to thank dudu ,member of this group to help me in all odds..I m giving all the images in attachements


1. you will have to buy these components
 a) ch341a programmer
 b)SOIC8 SOP8 Flash Chip IC Test Clips
you can buy these item from ebay or banggood.

2.now disassemble the laptop..I'm giving you the youtube link for this ..the video is of lenovo g50-70 exactly same as lenovo g50-80

3.now the next step is to find the bios chip which is written as uc3 bios chip number(A1h1512) at the backside of motherboard..I'm giving the pic of bios chip in attachements


4.Now the next step is to plug the programmer in another pc or laptop and install required drivers..link for software

when you extract all files then install driver and run ch341.exe  as administartor
5.now connect the clip to the bios chip..the dot on the chip is first pin.

6..open ch341a software and click detect.
the ch341a will not auto detect this bios chip as it is latest chip..so you will have to manually select the chip..click on manufacturer and select gigadevice and name as GD25Q64 like this

then click on read it will take 4-5 min and then click on save and save the bios file..
7..now you have to make thread in this group and send file to senior member..dudu helped me you can ask him also and dont forget to donate him.
8.then he will or anybody who is helping you send the mod file..now you have to erase your chip before programming the chip.then select the mod file and click on program ..this will take around 10-15 min when programing is done assemble the laptop and check whether bios is unlocked or not...dont panic if blackscreen comes while booting the laptop..keep the laptop on for 4-5 min it will definitely boot up..if its not booting up program the chip again and make sure connection are tight while programming...

Welcome everyone.

It's my first thread in the forum, so please be patient  Tongue
I have been lurking this place for longer than a year now. I have learned many important things from this.
Modded my past two laptops successfully.
Here I sit in front of my dad's x240 (it's his private laptop, don't worry).
He wanted to change his wifi card, so I decided to help him with the whitelist. I managed to find a correct module with uefitool, analyse it using ida and modify with hexeditor. Flashed it using minipro programmer. Now he's very happy it works. 

The problem is the double 5 beeps thing (1-1-1-1-1---1-1-1-1-1). I disabled SecurityChip with no effect. (if it's not doable, he could live with that)

I also have problem with unlocking advanced menu tab (Last one I unlocked was on some old Dell year ago, it was an easy process). Now I see that in this case it's completely different as FormSets are loaded (somehow) through different modules.

I have already found modules with "Advanced" form set and some kind of "form loader". 

I am a programmer, also with successes in software reverse-engineering  (computer science student, last semester of bachelors). I'm really not interested in 'just download and flash it' solutions. Could someone be so kind and at least try to explain to me what to look for? Or how to approach the problem? Really couldn't find anything more on the internet  Confused

Hi All,
More of a query if there is any hope forward with this strange motherboard.
Maker is Taiwanese builder of digital signage/media PCs - Wincomm.  The model WPE-792 is no longer supported and they have no legacy files/BIOS and such on their website.  I have two of these so happy to brick them and throw them in the trash.

Problem: The PCIe 1.1 slot "seems" to only support graphics cards (it has onboard Intel GMA).  I'm wanting to run my 3ware 9650SE raid card in the slot.  With it plugged in = no post, no beeps, no video nothing but fan spin.  The 3ware card works in a Zotac NVIDIA chipset PCIe 2.0 slot here as well as a Gigabyte i7 based PCIe 2.0 board no worries.  I thought it was obvious that it doesn't support PCIe 1.1 - but the documentation says it does...
Tried disabling everything I possibly could in the BIOS, no diff.

Attempted solution:  The award 6.0 bios looks dodgy on this board.  Strange greyed out options, options that don't apply, lots of options I would expect to see for a core duo Q965 board.  I'm thinking they used a Chinese manufacturer to make the boards based on a reference design but who knows who/what/which?  Any ideas on working that out?  Maybe I can try the BIOS of a sister reference board?  I don't care if I brick them.  If they don't support my raid card then they are of no use to me or my server.

Hello,
I was woundering if you guys had a crack or know how to get to the advanced settings on Insydeh20 V2.13.
I want to get to the graphic card settings.

I have recently found a HP Compaq dc7900 Small Form Factor PC and I'm looking to have an unlocked bios to access any hidden settings. Mainly Overclocking Tongue

Here is some info about this PC:
