[Request] Samsung NP310E5C-U02PL Bios Unlock

Hi!

I have a Samsung NP310E5C-U02PL laptop, and was wondering if the Bios could be unlocked, so I could access memory speed settings, and possible CPU related setting like Boost, ratios and so on. Also maybe enabling SATA 3 speeds as it is now limited to SATA 2. Not sure what resources can I give in order to help the process. Bios version is P09RAP, not sure how to extract it though.

ASRock X79 Extreme4 - Looking for Xeon support and Boot From PCIe support

Hello there.

My friend has an old ASRock X79 Extreme4 motherboard and is looking to upgrade to a new CPU. I found an older Xeon E5-2xxx v2 series Xeon that would work without an update, but I also found a much much better E7-8xxx v2 Xeon that might require a modification to work.

There's the website, and 3.70 is the most recent BIOS released.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the better CPU would just work without a mod, but I figure you guys would know the answer better than I would. I don't know much about BIOS modding, but acquiring both Xeon CPU support and boot from PCIe NVMe support would be great.

[REQUEST] Sony VAIO VGN-CR21S Wifi Card Update to 802.11 n support

Hello everyone,

I'd like to know if any hardware experts can help me. I would like to change the wifi card of my old Sony Vaio VGN-CR21S for a wifi card that implements the 802.11n protocol. By default this laptop has an Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG. It works well but it doesn't have "n", so I'm limited to 54 mbps, something that is scarce nowadays. Therefore, to avoid surprises and for something on my own that won't work later, I prefer the opinion of an expert who can advise me.

If possible I would like to buy a card that supports the BIOS I have now R1131Q0. There was some laptops which share this BIOS like the CR29XN which implemented the 802.11n by default. Regrding thie BIOS issue, I have seen that the VAIO VGN-CR3XX series that uses the R2101Q0 BIOS has WLAN cards that implements 802.11n as well. Although this BIOS belongs to the next series I know that it is fully compatible with my laptop.

Method for updating microcode: advice

Hello, My name is Isaac, a wannabe modder.

I need advice or confirmation about if this is gonna work:
I want to update the microcode for T9900  for my acer extensa 5635z,
I have already updated from T4300 to T9500 without modifications but the T9900 does not work, so I think it is maybe because of the old microcode (cpu seems to be fine)

I know how to flash bios. I have done 5 or 6 times, 2 of them with minor modifications applied 
I have directly used the hex editor (no CBROM worked) and updated CPUID=1067A manually on my bios file as a preliminary test:

I used as source the file ncpucode-mobile-lga-775-microcode.bin, md5sum 1606219827fcca467c929cc16e493da0

As you can see intelmicrocodelist recognises the change and so do phoenix bios editor (it recompiles without errors). Original and modded bios files are 2.150.400 bytes.

So my question is: Is it that easy? do you think I'm going to brick my mobo?

T7700 support on Acer 7730

Greetings BIOS-modders,

I have just upgraded a fairly old but still strong Acer 7730 with a fairly old but still strong T7700 CPU. 
The laptop is for an elderly person that doesn't have budget to buy new, so I do this upgrade for him for free.
The laptop works just fine on this T7700.

Yet... (you with experience know what's coming now..), the laptop gives the "No Microcode Update Loaded"-screen on start-up and when coming out of sleep...
I have the most recent BIOS-version on it that I could find: v 2.3821.
(BIOS version 3810 also works fine, but same microcode warning).

It would be a great help if someone could send me a modded BIOS for this, plus the instructions on how to apply this.
(I have fairly good understanding of computertech but not of BIOS-modding).

WPH files doubt - Same content but different sizes

This doubt is when choosing the WPH for flashing in Phoenix Technologies LTD BIOS. Regarding this matter I have seen that there are some files with same content but different size. IN my particular case I've seen that there are ones of 1024Kb and others of 1028KB.

The curious thing is that in many cases the content of the files is identical, checked with HdX editor. However, one has 4KB more than the other. Why does this difference exist? Which one should be used? Does it depend on the type of SWinFlash.exe used?

The two files I uploaded contain the R2101Q0 for a Sony Vaio VGN-CR. Which one should I use, the big one or the small one?
