HP DV7 6163CL - BIOS RECOVERY - NEED SOME HELP
Hello there.
A few years ago I flashed a bios from camiloml with advanced menus enabled on my hp dv7 6163cl, and changed what I needed to change and never even entered my bios for a few years.
Last week, I was working on my notebook, and after I was done I turned it off normally, by selecting turn off on windows and left.
The next day, when I came back I turned it on and I had no video, not even the back light turns on. On the other hand, I can hear the FAN and the caps lock key keeps blinking indefinitely which, from what I read is a sign of bios corruption.
I went to HP website, downloaded the BIOS file for my notebook (https://whp-aus2.cold.extweb.hp.com/pub/...p55068.exe) and placed the bios file name 01658.bin on a flash drive, named it HP_TOOLS (original hard drive with original hp recovery long replaced with a SSD and recovery partition lost), placed it on my notebook's usb port, and turned it on by pressing winkey+b.
I saw the flashdrive activity light blinking a few times and then nothing happens. After some research I read that perhaps I need to place the bios inside a certain folder of name it with a certain name... I don't know, too many different sugestions, none worked so far.
I saw camoloml's post on hp's bios recovery but all links there are down (dropbox) and I could not find out what I need to do to recover my bios.
So, I asking you guys for help, this notebook is a bit old, but it is bloody fast (i7+ssd) and I would like to recover it as it is very useful for my work.
Thanks in advance.

Hello to all,
I have the Dell 3540 Latitude, that keeps really "dim" the display , even in BIOS.
To other laptops in the past that i have fixed, i have changed the "F" Fuse for the backlight .
But on this particular laptop i can't find it anywhere.
Yes, i have changed the screen.
Yes, i have changed the cable.
Yes, i have tried different combinations but still nothing.
The display stays really dim . It doesn't have external GPU or etc. it's just dim.
Has anyone encoutered something like this, or can help me out ? ( I can't even find schematics ) .
Thanks to anyone who will help.

[REQUEST] BIOS Whitelist removal Alienware m11x R2
Hello to all,
I have been trying to use EXP GDC interface with my old M11X r2, hoping to review it with a more powerful eGPU... It is possible to connect eGPU via single mini PCIe slot by removing DELL Wifi card, however it is very complicated as laptop must be started with Wifi card, then once booting is over (past BIOS) card must be unplugged and EXP GDC connector goes in... If laptop started without Wifi card, mini PCIE is turned off and OS doesn't recognizes new device...Quite frustrating and dangerous. It will be excellent if somehow whitelist can be removed from the BIOS file so EXP GDC can be properly used.
Model: Alienware m11x R2
Latest BIOS file: ftp.ftp.dell.com/bios/R289597.exe
other BIOS versions: http://alienwareusersupport.weebly.com/m11x-r22.html
Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks.

GA-Z97X gaming 7 OROM, SSD P1 Crucial and IME, REQUEST

HI, I AM BACK WITH NEW HARDWARE,

Hi, guys, there is new-old hardware in my hands.
It has several problems:
1/. Windows 7 and SSD: P1 Crucial: CT1000P188D8 M.2/PCX connector onboard'
W7 Can't see it,
2/. There is a need for update OROM " TO BEST POSSIBLE "
working in line with 15 edition level of drivers and software for RST,
as finally have to migrate my actual systems to this SSD.
(there is something with Certificate for 15.9 RST in Win-Raid Fernando modded driver. W7 says 15.9 from Fernando is not valid for the system due to lack of Ceryficaste but Cert from Fernando attached to file is registering, there must be a small typo somewhere in files.
There is mentioned that solution for this is an update from MS but I did not find
the numbers of updates, as they are around in the form of an addition to wim.
3/. As I mentioned in Win-Raid forum I can not install new system per
certification f software and drivers for my peripherals so have to use the systems installed before Certs expired... and have some copies of them and using them for setup W7 system on the PC.
and get rid of firmware related to IME.
So far I did a mod for visibility and possibility to boot from it in BIOS from P1 Crucial: CT1000P188D8 M.2
It is uploaded there, can someone check it and say if I did it the proper way.

Basic revision is F6 higher revisions F7 and F8 are not really well described, so most people say these revs were made for compatibility with Intel 5 platform, implementing even wilder IME spyware to life and they are changing plenty as there is note "this upgrade is irreversible" to F6 and lower. Intel 5 line has IME completely inbuild in CPU so it will be much more hard to get rid of it, but I know the work is in progress.

I have an old Aspire 7735Z, it runs great. I stripped it of everything not needed, upgraded the processor from the T4300 (without VT) to the T9300 (with VT), added an external graphics card (GeForce GTX780) and have 8GB of RAM. It runs great but the bios sucks. I have been through the forums and can not find a bios mod for this model, can some one please unlock this bios so I can get to overclocking? Thanks in advance for any help. The latest bios version (Phoenix Tech. V2.12) from Acer can be found here.

Unlocking Yuma 2 (Intel 2600) 64 Bit
Dear all,
I've been digging the last few days to find out a way to enable my Yuma 2's Intel N2600 (picture below) to run in 64 bit linux.
The entire device is capable of working in a 64bit capacity, only to be locked down by the bios of the vendor. I've tried to find & enable AMI bios options that would influence this via AMIBCP, but none did. This is something that happened with several devices running the N2600. For the Asus 1025c users managed to alter bios and enable this by nopping out the wrmsr instruction (Asus eeepc 1025C), which sets the mode after running in real-mode for bootloading. I've looked at the asm of the bios and found several places where 0F30 gets called, but am unsure what to replace with NOP's as i have no experience with bios modding or anything related to it (except 8086 asm).
I hope someone can help me with finding the right locations in the file to exclude. Below you can find information and links, PM or comment to ask me questions.

CPU: Intel N2600
Bios is flashable with AMIDOS

[REQUEST] Lenovo Z575 (54CN18WW) Whitelist Removal
Hi,
I'm trying to flash the BIOS on this laptop with a BIOS I found from this thread here but I'm having a few issues:
The modified BIOS author first says to Run flash.bat as administrator. Doing so causes the command prompt to flicker and then nothing else to happen.
He then says:
When I follow those steps, the Phoenix UEFI Flash Tool pops up and the bios will start to update. The computer will then crash with a Windows Stop Code of PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGED AREA saysing that WinFlash64.sys flailed.
I then tried to create a bootable DOS drive and installed the modified BIOS from there, following the directions in the HOW TO FLASH MODIFIED OR ORIGINAL BIOS (PHOENIX) sticky thread. It didn't work the first time I tried it because the modified bios is named BIOS1.WPH and the PHLASH16 programs seems to want the file to be named BIOS.WPH. I renamed the file, and the next time I tried running it I got an "Invalid FlashInt.Bin" error.
The thread continued with download links from http://rghost.net but currently nothing can be downloaded from that site.
The original WiFi card does not work, so I could not pull up the PCI ID from it. I've attach pictures of the physical card in case there's some identification information on it that can be used, as the PCI ID does not seem to be listed.

Quote:Ok friend,
to flash It from Dos You need a phlash.exe tool, then
You have to prepare an USB Dos Formatted Bootable Stick and copy all files into
then Boot from USB Dos and execute pflash /cvar /bbl /sa /sv /v 54CN18WW.ROM
but You need convert .WPH to .ROM (very complicated).
I suggest to copy bios_mod folder to C HD root rename It as mod, then
much easy is to open a Comand Prompt as Administrator CLI window and You got
C:\ then use a comands sequence :
cd C:\mod
flash.bat
That's It
Let me know
Regards
