Administrator BIOS Reset Password: HP 17-bs153cl

Hi,

I hope I am doing this right. I need a BIOS reset password. I regret setting my administrator and power-on BIOS passwords. I know my power-no BIOS password which I use daily. However, I forgot my administrator BIOS password which I need to reenable VT-x virtualization.

I got a system disabled code of: i 85826178. It would be most appreciated if there is something I can use like a reset password or a BIOS reflash. I upgraded my BIOS and the firmware thinking that would work and nothing - I still need a password. So a reset password would be nice.

[HELP] Can't enter BIOS anymore in lenovo Z580

$

Hello,
I have a Lenovo Z580 with a dual boot between Windows 10 and Arch Linux in UEFI Mode using Grub. My BIOS version is the latest one "5fcn95ww".
This morning, I wanted to install Arch Linux with Anarchylinux-cli to test an encrypted setup (I never did that before).
As I wanted to keep my internal hard drive untouched in case something goes wrong, I installed it on an external drive connected through an USB port.
Installation en encryption went well.
I rebooted my computer after the installation process ended.
In the freshly installed Grub menu from the external hard drive, I selected Anarchy entry (Grub had explore all my systems on the 2 hard drives). There were an error during boot so I rebooted and then selected Windows (also from the Grub installed in the external hard drive).

Then, I wanted to make my internal hard drive Grub the first entry in UEFI settings. I disconnected my external drive. But then, it was strictly impossible to enter BIOS. It is usually F2 key. "Fast boot" is disabled in my windows settings, I checked it multiple times.
Every time I turn on my computer, Windows is loading though.
Using the "NOVO" button to boot the computer show me a little menu. Every option is getting Windows to show up. I can't launch Lenovo recovery, nor boot menu, nor BIOS settings.

I tried the windows recovery option to reboot in UEFI Settings. But it did reboot to Windows without going to the BIOS settings.
Re-flash "5fcn95ww" is not possible using the .exe from Lenovo because I am already on this version (maybe we can force it but I don't know how).
I tried to downgrade using this method but I have windows blue screen due to WinFlashSys (or something) crashed and then the computer reboots.
I tried the method of Wincris.exe  using the 5FCN35WW.wph file because 5fcn95ww is using a .CAP file and Wincris uses only WPH files. But when rebooting with "Fn + R" the computer reboots again in windows.

I don't know what to do. I think my BIOS is completely messed up and I can't find a way to flash recover it.

Can you help me please?

Hi, I wanted to disable spread spectrum and this brought me to the topic of BIOS unlocking. I'm unsure about the entire process though, hence I came to ask for help here. I attached the BIOS file

If unlocking is complicated, I would be very happy if someone just helped me disable spread spectrum.

side note, AMIBCP refuses to save my BIOS file. i tried multiple versions and some won't even open it.

Thanks

As the subject suggests I'm new to the whole idea of Bios modding, never done it before. Not only am I trying to mod a computer i have laying around but i actually would like to know where to start when it comes to writing custom BIOS/ROMS entirely. What language(s) should i look into and/or learn, what PC application(s) do i need to use and/or download? I need to know any and everything involved with going start to finish from writing the bios, compiling, then flashing, although i have flashed firmware before, i was into the whole PSP hacking scene and was quite good at modding ram hex values to do whatever i wanted inside games and apps. Is modding bios going to be at all similar? I have seen some bios hacks (i think) that used hex editors. If anyone could point me in the right direction to get started that would be great. My end goal as a whole and need to mod bios is because i see to create a SUB ZERO cooled PC for the masses, and need to know how to write a bios as nothing currently exists that would meet my needs sufficiently.

Who can help me with the issue of Flash EC Firmware?

Hi,Everyone.
I have a MECHREVO S1 and then I found that this uses the same motherboard mold as the MSI PS42 8RB, marked MS-14B1 Ver: 1.0 on the motherboard.
Currently I haved burned the latest BIOS version of the MSI PS42 8RB E14B1IMS.10C and all functions are working fine.
However, it is not possible to burn EC Firmware version 14B1EMS1.109 and the error message is "Product ID is incorrect!"
Now I am almost sure that the BIOS and EC are working properly. But don't know how to skip product ID verification.
I have tried to modify the SMBIOS table information and there is still no way to solve it.
who can help me? thanks.

So sorry if this is the wrong section, I don't know how to tell if my bios is pheonix or other, I'm pretty sure its not AMI though. I've liquid metaled my laptop and have plenty of room to play with and improve the performance of the CPU. I would also like to be able to set the GTX 1050 on or off at my own discretion via bios because I have it as a hackintosh at the moment. Thanks!!!

Hey there,

For Hackintosh purposes, I've tried to fit a Broadcom wifi adapter into my Matebook 13. I was really excited to get this ultrabook for its specs and the fact that you can swap out the wifi card (the things we get excited about in an ultrabook these days ;-)), but quickly found out that Huawei decided to implement a whitelist in that only allows Intel modems to work on the Matebook 13 (which, in turn, do not work on macOS). I've never had to temper with a BIOS in my life and was wondering if the good folks in here could perhaps help a man out.

  • Model: Huawei Matebook 13 (WRT-29), i7-8565U

Thanks for anyone taking the time to look at this!

Problem for HP Slimline 270-a016 Motherboard

$

Hi,
I got a motherboard of slimline 270-a016 with a cheap price recently, with AMD a9-9430 Soc. SSID is 82FF.
I think it's a engineering motherboard which shipped with a B.08 BIOS marked as for HP INTERNAL USE, different from official released F.XX BIOS. Originally, the SKU, SN, Product Name are blank, and the motherboard is in MPM unlock mode.
But with mistake, I locked MPM through HP BIOS Configuration Utility.

Now, I got a following Error message at the PC's power up every time. This error message will keep on the screen, if you don't press any button, you won't boot to windows.

"Invalid or missing product information"
"The following product information programmed into the system board is missing or invalid."
"System Board (00A) - Product Name, Product Serial Number, Product Number"
"For more information please visit: http://www.hp.com/go/techcenter/startup";

Sadly I didn't backup the old bios before I did the dumb operation.
And without MPM mode unlock(SMC.bin required), no way to edit the missing information.
AFUDOS also fail to edit the DMI information, probably MPM locked is kind of write protection.

With programmer I dumped currently BIOS.(upgrade to F.01)
but tried with any modification to the bios through Winhex or AMIBC will lead to black screen at boot.

I do have a idea like only replace the UUID to 32 "F", then use FSMC.bin to unlock MPM, but the tool comes from notebook tool package, not sure it will work on desktop motherboard or not. I'll try it later.

Anyway to add some strings to the system IDs to bypass the error message (with programmer)?

Thanks

Update:

I failed in modding the UUID to 32 "F", with a 32 "F" UUID image flashed BIOS, it will change to something else after power up.

Problem solved by modding the BIOS.
I finally find the byte which control MPM mode in BIOS dump. It's 38899h
After set the byte to 00(01 is MPM locked).
I can modify the System IDs with AMIDEDOS or HP BIOS Configuration Utility.

Inspiron 3264 Corrupt Bios?

Trying to resurrect an Inspiron 3264 AIO PC that died and now just power cycles when attempting to turn it on.  Not sure if it is the BIOS, but in the absence of any other obvious issues I suspect it.  Removed and dumped BIOS chip, see attached file.

Here's the latest BIOS update from Dell's website, but all I could get out of this is the encrypted 10MB HDR/ROM file and got stuck there:
https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER0563242..._2.7.0.exe

Can someone help?

Thanks.

[Request] unlocking phoenix bios for lenovo ideapad U310

Hey guys
I have been working hard to switch that laptop to Ubuntu.
First I had to understand how to update and flash the bios to which I HAD NO access. It is done, I can get inside.
Of course I wanted to disable the secure boot, this was the reason to enter BIOS.
The issue I am facing is that one : except the two first boxes, I cannot toggle the secure boot ones, they are grayed. I understood reading the forums that lenovo likes these kind of locks. Here then is my request...
If anyone wanted to unlock the secure boot on this BIOS, I would be very grateful. I long for Ubuntu...
Thank you...

I was flashing this bios : https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mob...cn99ww.exe

ps : I was trying what I read about the "golden key secure boot" but this was rejected also by the secure boot...
