[REQUEST] Modded Y50-70 Bios, forgot password!

$

Hey there!

I've modded my Y50-70 BIOS here in 2015 (https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-u...#pid101502), but unfortunately I forgot the password and I've set Secure Boot on.

I can only successfully boot with one SSD I have, so although I can't access the BIOS, I have full Windows access to it.
I'm wondering if it would be possible to recover my current BIOS through Windows and remove the password by flashing a password-cleared one instead.

Instructions on how to do so would be very welcome, too!

Thank you for your time!

[Problem] sp37159_NWL_ByCamiloml still blacklists my WLAN card

Hi,

First, and not meaning to sound sycophantic, thanks for all your efforts in making this resource available.

Anyway, I've just downloaded and applied the content of "sp37159_NWL_ByCamiloml.exe" from the "whitelists" folder to an HP Pavilion dv8219ea and, while the BIOS flash was successful, the replacement WLAN card is still blacklisted.

Is there a further step I need to take? The replacement card in question is a SparkLAN WPEA-110N if that helps.

Cheers,
YS

[Request] BIOS Mod: Lenovo's Thinkpad Edge 15/E50 Whitelist Removal and how-to guide

Hello BIOS-Mods Community:

I am a Computer/Robotics Engineer-in-Training, and I would love to get some assistance on modifying my current PC:

Lenovo's Thinkpad Edge 15/E50 Series laptop
Motherboard Hardware type: 0319-42U
Processor: Intel ® Core ™ i5 CPU 540M 2.53GHz Pseudo-Dual Core Processor
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (Service Pack 1)
Memory (RAM): 8192M

I would really like to modify the access to this guy:

Wi-Fi: 1x1 11b/g/n Wireless LAN PCI Express Half Mini Card Adapter (RTK-RTL8188CE)
Hardware IDs: PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&SUBSYS_819510EC&REV_01
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&SUBSYS_819510EC
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8176&CC_0280

Here's the computer's BIOS INFO I would love to know what must be changed in the whitelist process:

Type: Phoenix BIOS / ACPI 4.0
Vendor: LENOVO
Version: 2.05 (80ET65WW)
Size: 2048 Kilobytes
Date: 03/25/2013

Here are the tools that I plan to use:

BIOS Backup:
           BACKUP_Tools12.exe
Bios Backup Toolkit 2.0 [ubb.exe] (by David XXW Workgroup)
BIOS Update Utility:
Thinkpad BIOS Flash Update Utility (by Lenovo)
WinPhlash.exe 1.7.16.0 (by Phoenix Tech. Ltd.)
HP Disk Storage Format Tool 1.00.012 (by HP)
BIOS Editing:
           Phoenix/Dell/EFI SLIC Mod 2.73
Phoenix BIOS Editor Pro 2.2.13 (by Phoenix Tech. Ltd.)
           RW Everything 1.7
Others:
Phoenix Crisis Disk Build 1.0.0.4 (by Phoenix Tech. Ltd. 1998)
Windows 98 DOS Startup Disk (by Microsoft)

I now have backups of my bios, both from the system using the ubb.exe and from Lenovo's website, I would like to move forward, but to avoid the risk of bricks, may someone provide a link to a modified and fully functional BIOS with the white list removed, please? Also may that same someone show me how it's done that I may expound what I can do with my computer?

I understand that most (if not all) of the links to the working bios copies are dead links. I would very much appreciate your assistance to some of my future experiments with this Thinkpad. It's old, but it still has potential for more capabilities than when it was originally bought.

Sincerely,

SMBB

Enclosed are copies of the results from the backup tools12.exe file and the dumped bios from my machine using: [Bios Backup Toolkit 2.0 [universal_bios_backup.exe] ].

Lenovo G575 (4383) EC and BIOS images

$

I have a Lenovo G575 (4383), AMD based, with what I believe to be an InsydeH20 UEFI, but it won't boot (won't even POST), and the Fn+B recovery option does not work any more, following a failed attempt at recovery.  I suspect that the BIOS and/or EC is corrupt and needs reflashing the hard way with a SOIC clip and flashrom.

Please can anyone provide EC and UEFI images, or tell me how to extract them both from the Lenovo firmware updates on their site, so that I can give it a final try before consigning it to the junk pile?  According to the schematics (attached, in case someone else finds them useful), I think the UEFI image should be 2048K and the EC image should be 128K, which, when you add those two numbers together, happens to be the file size of the rom image inside the .exe that Lenovo have on their site.  I can't figure out how to use Phoenix tool to extract what I need, though.

[edit: mods, I think i've posted this in the wrong place - please can you relocate it?]

Enable Gateway NV52 Advanced Options?

$

I realize you guys are overloaded with requests, and I hate to be an inconvenience, but somehow my onboard bluetooth antenna got disabled, and the only way to re-enable it is to go through the advanced bios menu*. However,  Gateway, in their infinite wisdom, decided to make this virtually impossible to access. I hoped there was a simple key combo (say, ctrl+f12), but nothing has worked. As such, I'm uploading the only bios file available on the Gateway site for my laptop.

Additionally, I'm including some of the things I've gone to try and figure this out, in case it helps with either modifying or upgrading the bios.

  • With the exception of the attached bios file (Phoenix Technologies LTD V1.14 10/22/2009), there is nothing on the Gateway site by way of support. If you contact customer support, they refer you to a third party site that will charge you for any actual assistance (answersby).
  • I ran Balarc Advisor, in the hopes of finding the specific name of my bios or motherboard, in the hopes of finding a direct answer about an advanced menu or updated bios. Couldn't find anything
  • Pheonix does not directly offer downloads. Instead they ALSO refer you to a third party website that will check if your bios is the most up to date (Mine isn't), and then offer to let you download it...for a $30 membership. It did mention that the board is actually made by Packard Bell.
Then I opened up the actual folder I got from Gateway to see if there was a simple on switch for complete bios menus.
  • Opened BIOS.bat, and saw the name of the exe and wph is "SJVGW114"; for dosflash, it uses the switches /x /s /c /mode=3 (could I just edit the switches or change the mode number to make it work?).
  • Opened Winflash64\settings.ini, and saw a list of update and verify commands, most were set to 0. Is there a specific one I could set to 1 to unlock my advenced menus?

If this has already been solved elsewher, and I somehow missed it, please let me know where to find it. If I just need to alter the bat or ini files, let me know and I'll try it out. If you know of a newer bios that would work better for me, please point me in that direction. If none of those are options, please mod my bios so I can finally get my bluetooth turned back on**. If I missed anything, please let me know.

* Also, this is less urgent, but there's an obnoxious shriek that sounds anytime I plug in or unplug the power cord, and I have to disable it through the freaking advanced bios. Even muting the system speak does nothing. Why does it do this? Who thought this was a good idea? Why, in the name of all that is holy would they force their customers to put up with this?? It's honestly less important than the Bluetooth, but if I can turn it off, I will be infinitely happier than if I get my Bluetooth working.

**AND THIS ACCURSED SHRIEK TURNED OFF!

Xeon E5472 in a 775 socket cannot install OS

Hi folks.
First of all I am new to this forum and please accept my apologies if I am posting this in the wrong thread.

Im gonna get straight to the point and explain whats my situation with the following CPU from the subject (Xeon E5472).

To start with ,here is my PC configuration ....

Motherboard: Asrock P43DE ---- http://www.asrock.com/mb/intel/p43de/
CPU: Intel Xeon X5472 -----https://ark.intel.com/products/33085/Int...00-MHz-FSB
Ram: ADATA
4x2GB DDR2/EXTREME EditionFunction:  Non-ECCFrequency: 1066+MHz/PC2-8500 voltage::2.1-2.3VCL time:5-5-5-15

and here is my problem:

I updated my bios according to the instructions at https://www.delidded.com/lga-771-xeon-microcode/ then proceeded to modding the cpu so that it can be accepted in the 775 socket.
So far so good , untill I started the PC ... everything POSTed fine , I reset my bios to its default state , the bios recognized the CPU as E5472 and then I tried to boot into windows 10 x64 and it gave me a BSOD saying "windload.exe is missing " .
Okay I messed up with the configuration and I am trying to boot my previously installed OS I suppose the right way is to do a fresh install... But when I did ... the same BSOD with the same" winload.exe" missing showed up when the installer tried to start.
Then I tried Windows 7 x64 and the installer came up with this "The file is possibly corrupt header checksum doesnt match the computed checksum"...then I tired Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia x64 bit and Lubuntu 17.10 to no avail the error this time was "uncompression error -- System halted"
To be honest I dont really know what I did wrong .... strange thing here is that when I perform the same actions this time with Xeon X5355  in the socket - everything runs like a charm !
Considering that both CPUs support the same set of instructions my motherboard also supports variety of Xeons (according to this--- https://www.delidded.com/lga-771-to-775-adapter/3/)  and all the installers thumbdrives with the OSes are valid since I've tried to boot them on many different systems and they do work , what would your next suggestion be in order to solve this?

I am really frustrated with this one and I just cant come up with an Idea why would not this unit work unless its faulty.

Thanks in advance for your time !

this board is based on the 6150se NVidia chipset the pcb revision 3.0 after it is where I got cpu microcodes from and I updated the agesacpu.rom from option roms download sections.......  then updated ncpucode.bin with extract p6 module from ami bios 3.0 Revision board and flashed with win flash in windows ten.. I have absolutely no idea if this will void windows installs I have an install that is work based and never had to leave it so slic doesn't effect my windows installation ever.... I flashed to my motherboard dumped it from the motherboard and checked over and over again only error I have seemed to find is that meminit.bin has a padding error which seems to be permanent when I update agesa module to 3.7.0.0 and flashed and system is working and tested an am3 Athlon ii x2 and successful post but am waiting on new cpu to max out the 95w TDP if possible but yeah I have no idea if this will work but its my attempt so heres to whoever wants to try I know it doesn't brick the bios for sure on my pc cant say the same for anyone else though try at your own risk good luck happy modding to everyone also!! ill be modding any dip 8 style motherboard bioses I can for a while if anyone is interested just message me....ill post screen shots of bios etc this pc has no way to tell in the bios which cpu patch your running but allowed me to update agesa no issue and all the cpu microcodes no issue and I made sure theyre successfully changed after flashing!! no way to tell what the padding issue on meminit will cause either so again at your own risk ....

I like to ask Modders of bios-mods.com community to check what options are accessible to unlock in my laptop BIOS(if any at all).

I'm most interested in features that could give me some control over cooling fan. Probably power related would be best.

(Optional: info/story(you realy don't have to read this))
Why fan control?
Because after replacement of malfunctioning fan(original) to compatybile substitute I notice 'annoying' difference.
Original fan had ~4(i don't remember exactly) speed levels(with of course depend on temperatures) where a new one seems to have only 2 levels: min & max.
So for example playing not very resources absorbing game switch fan to max just to get back to min lvl when 100% rpm's are reached and this process repeats every ~6-8 seconds.
At the moment finding solution in BIOS locked options is my last idea after 3 days struggle.

Virtualization for AO725 1.08 BIOS

$

I have an Acer Aspire One laptop (exact model 725-0691) which has been upgraded to 8GB RAM and Windows 10 pro.

It was previously upgraded to the 1.08 bios when it was running windows 7 and I got that bios from
https://www.acer.com/ac/en/ID/content/su...53;-;AO725

I re flashed it with the 1.08 bios using the fd file downloaded from the following page using the recovery procedure with a USB stick.
https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-F...e-725-0825

Flashing seemed to go fine and Windows 10 started up afterwards but task manager still says virtualization disabled and hyper-v won't install.

Is there a way to get a version of the 1.08 bios which does allow virtualization to be enabled?

Thanks

Hello all,
I have an unusual request...
It's possibile to remove or disable the Network adapter group from the boot order?
There aren't option to disable it, only one to disable internal network adapter.

I would disabled it because the computer won't turn on if the network cable was connected, but once you disconnect it, it will boot up, so I linked the problem to the bios order.

BIOS: AMI 5.43 (09/10/2009)
Chipset: Intel G33
Motherboard: Benicia 1.01 (https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-.../c01324212)

Any help will be appreciated,
Thanks in advanced!
