I would like to have the whitelist removed (including WiFi modules & OEM battery lock) from the latest Bios (v1.50 - 83uj31us) for the Lenovo Thinkpad T420. Not sure, if this belongs to the whitelist forum too, but if so and if possible, the RAM clock rate lock should also be removed.

[Question] Fixing EC code in a Lenovo Y50-70

Hello people

I have a Lenovo Y50-70, which sometimes won't turn on. I wrote a mail earlier to Dudu, where I explained my issue:

Recently I've been having issues with my laptop not wanting to turn on, when the battery is connected. The reason I am writing to you, is because you seem to have very extensive knowledge about programming BIOS'es and I am quite certain it's a BIOS issue.

Doing a search on The Internet reveals that it's a known issue, but no one has a permanent solution other than "ship it to Lenovo for repairs". That would cost hundreds of Euros, since they'll want to change the motherboard and it's well out of warranty.

To resolve the issue, I have to disassemble the laptop, disconnect the normal battery together with the CMOS battery, and hold down the power button for ~30 seconds. Afterwards, I can reconnect both batteries again and the laptop will be fully functional, battery and all.

Sometimes it happens a few times a day and other times it doesn't do it for weeks.

Dudu has replied to me, that it's an EC (Embedded Controller) issue. This seems to be common for quite a few models of Lenovo laptops. Now, before I contact Lenovo, as Dudu says I should, I just want to ask you guys here, as a last ditch effort: Would anyone here be able to make some kind of workaround? As in correct the firmware in the EC? I'm quite certain it would help a lot of people having issues with their Lenovo laptops. If the answer is that it can only be done by Lenovo, so be it. We can leave that answer here for posterity.

Wake-On-LAN issue T420 BIOS reflash

I'm having some real trouble flashing coreboot on my Thinkpad T420 with my raspberry pi. I have the pi installed with everything I need, and flashrom is indeed working, however, it is unable to read the BIOS chip on my motherboard for obvious reasons. I am trying to use the "wake-on-lan" trick to supply power to the chip for flashing. The motherboard, with AC and Ethernet connected, does power up, with LED indicators by the LAN port flashing, but it only does so for a few seconds before turning off. I would ideally like to get the wake-on-lan method of power delivery working as it seems the most reliable on these machines, but I'm at a loss as to how to achieve this.

I had also tried direct power delivery to the chip from the 3.3V VCC pin-out on the raspberry pi, but every time I would connect my SIOC clip to the motherboard it would reboot my pi. The pi would also refuse to power on if the clip with VCC connected was attached to the BIOS chip, so if someone knows how to get this method of power delivery working, that would be just as great as figuring out the issue with the wake-on-lan approach.

Any help is much appreciated as this is my first BIOS re-flash projectTongue

P8H67-M PRO asus + ivy bridge cpu

I ordered an Asus P8H67-M PRO board for my i5 3470s cpu but it blacked screen on me i tried 4 different models if ram so it's probably the CPU
Turned out his board is a revision 1.05 not a rev 3.The guy got it from striping down and Asus branded PC.So I'm stuck
Can it be modified to support a 3 gen cpu?

I cant get it to work without a 2gen cpu to see the bios version and other info.

Hi guys, i'm new to modding uefi.
I would really like to be able to change the voltage and clock speed of the resources.
However the least if we can only change the boot logo.
As well if you can guide me trough. ;]

Hi there BIOS MOD guys,

i purchased a lenovo G710 cheap with defective nvidia card (only can use intel graphics)
but the cpu fan is always on 100% and nothing is overheating 30c 1-2% cpu and its very cold but the fan is at 100%

anyway i want to request an bios with advanced setting

my bios is in the attachment version 8ecn95ww

Nvme for Sabertooth 990FX R2.0/GEN3

Hi

please I need help.

I would like to upgrade bios 2901 on Sabertooth 990FX rev2/GEN3 (limited edition) motherboard, but I'm a little confused about that because on the official Asus website for Sabertooth 990FX rev2/GEN3 (limited ediotion) exist only 2501 bios version, but for Sabertooth 990FX rev2 exixst both update files 2501 and 2901.? Theese two mottherboards are very similar.

The reason I would do it because bios version 2901 have Nvme support and Sabertooth gen3 have PCI express 3.0 (ideal for samsung 960 pro via PCIe/m2 adapter).  

If that is not possible can I insert modules (Nvme, NVMEINT13 and NvmeSmm) from Sabertooth 990FX rev2 bios 2901 to bios 2501 of Sabertooth 990FX rev2/GEN3?

I would highly appreciate if anyone can tell me ... to ... Unlock my Bios for Advanced Bios Options Overclocking my Current CPU by Updating the Bios.
Since the HP Support Assistant is Pretty useless, i am unable to find a Bios Mod or Bios Upgrade... to Overclock my CPU.

I now have backups of my bios, both from the system using the ubb.exe and from Lenovo's website, I would like to move forward, but to avoid the risk of bricks, may someone provide a link to a modified and fully functional BIOS with the white list removed, please? Also may that same someone show me how it's done that I may expound what I can do with my computer?

I understand that most (if not all) of the links to the working bios copies are dead links. I would very much appreciate your assistance to some of my future experiments with this Thinkpad. It's old, but it still has potential for more capabilities than when it was originally bought.
