I really like the asrock motherboards and I'm really sorry they will not get updates for their older ones. It's okay asroc this is the best and it will be. I have several years of practice in the biosmodd. Of course I'm a lot smarter here and I've learned a lot from them that I thank them for. The point here is to give you many updated bios.  Angel

Samsung 530E5M BIOS unlock request

I bought a Samsung 530E5M laptop and am being annoyed by the limited BIOS. Any chance of an unlock for this notebook? I would like additional options in the weird, semi-annoying BIOS (I personally don't like the setup Dodgy ). This would be my first time requesting BIOS mods so if any additional files or info is needed then I'll post upon request. Here's what I got:

The BIOS says "Samsung BIOS Configuration" up top and "Aptio Setup Utility - Copyright © 2017 American Megatrends, Inc." at bottom.

The PC's full model is Samsung Notebook 5 15.6" NP530E5M-X02US. It has the i5-7200U with a GeForce 920MX dGPU.

Thanks for any help.

Got a pic of the BIOS here as long as it stays hosted:

Is it possible to get valid RSA sigs for one of these?
  • https://www.bios-mods.com/BIOS/index.php?dir=Whitelists%2F&download=sp55068_NWL_vHARD_ByCamiloml.exe

I tried using PhoenixTool to extract 01658.sig for the included 01658.bin. For the first, the generated SIG did not work when I tried to apply it using the 3-in-1 USB booting to UEFI. The tool failed to recognize the BIN file and would not generate a SIG file for the second.

If the answer is YES, then that is probably the fastest route to success. Given what I went through to get to where I am now, I doubt it will be that easy...

Here is the full story:

  1. I had bought the HP dv7t-6100 new from HP, but when the disk drive crapped out in less than a year, I bought a MacBook and mounted the drive externally to recover what I could. Meanwhile, I replaced the drive with an SSD, loaded Linux on it, and never looked back. I had tried to generate the backup/recovery disks when I first got the machine, but HP's tools had completely failed to do anything other than waste some writable DVDs. So I have no way to boot the original (Windows 7) OS that came with it. I do have a version of Windows (currently upgraded to Windows 10) running in Parallels as well as a few installation DVDs for Windows 7 Ultimate.
  2. The first challenge was to install the official BIOS update from HP (sp55068.exe). I was able to extract the files using other OSs, but was unable to run this or the EXE files in it on the HP, even after creating bootable Windows USBs and/or booting to the install disks and entering recovery mode. The closest I got was booting into recovery mode from the Windows 7 32-bit/X86 disk, although it still ran into some DLL failure that I was unable to resolve. (Under Windows 10 or Windows 7 64-bit, it complained that the environment wasn't supported.) However, I was able to create an HP 3-in-1 recovery USB (sp82614.exe) and extract 01658.SIG (PhoenixTool from this website) using virtualized Windows 10. Then using the F2 UEFI diagnostics boot, I was finally able to flash it (having renamed 01658.dec.bin to 01658.bin and rsa.sig to 01658.sig).
  3. Of course, what I really want to do is to flash a non-whitelist version so that I can install the Intel 6235 that's been sitting on my desk for a few years now. When I tried using the new BIN/SIG that I was able to generate for sp55068_NWL_ByCamiloml, the flasher complained that it did not recognize it. The 3-in-1 Diagnostics USB actually boots FreeDOS, although the only way that I'm able to get the flash updater is to use F2 at startup to boot the diagnostics. I tried stuff like renaming the HP_TOOLS partition, but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Does anyone have better experience with doing this on an HP laptop?

ASUS Rampage III Extreme, PCIe SSD Boot

Hi Modders

I have an R3E/i7 960/BIOS v1502 (official)/Crucial SATA SSD/Windows 10. I recently acquired an Intel 750 PCIe SSD, that I'd like to use in the machine as my primary (preferably only) drive (the SATA SSD appears to be on the way out)

The Intel 750 is in a Gen2/X16 slot (the second red one from top), and the drive is detectable/usable by Windows. However, in the BIOS (I'm still on 1502) it is not selectable as a boot drive on which to install OS.
  • Is there a modded version of the R3E BIOS that will resolve this particular problem?
  • If yes, which version would best suit my need? (Link, please?)
  • With that version, what options should I change from defaults in order to boot from the Intel 750?
Much thanks in advance

Hello there

I'm running an linux (Fedora) and my old laptop boots up faster than the new one. It has to be in the advanced BIOS settings of the new laptop!
Example - old Dell laptop boots up Fedora in 10 sec while new HP laptop boots up 30-40 secs to operate in fedora.
My linux also has some delays in terminal etc... The old laptop with i3 runs faster and has no delays on linux Huh Huh
There was some lag / delays in Win 10 also. Confused
I would like to unlock the Advanced menu in BIOS. If I need to install Windows in order to do that no problems there. Sleepy

Dell R730 2.7.1 BIOS - ES CPU Support

Hello,

I've purchased a Dell PowerEdge R730 server with BIOS 2.0.1, which has support for A0/A1 stepping ES Broadwell CPUs (CPUID 406F0). I need firmware 2.4.3 or newer because of a bug causing crashes and has therefore modified 2.7.1 and added the ES CPU Microcode from 2.0.1 BIOS.

All well and good, the missing Microcode has now been added (replaced an entry I did not need), but there seems to be a block in the BIOS, with the following exact message:
Fatal Error. Broadwell A0/A1 stepping CPU not supported. Please replace CPU

I have found this error message in the BIOS, but I have no clue as to where I find the reference to this error, or where to disable it. Attached is the 2.7.1 (newest) BIOS with modified Microcode which has 406F0 CPUID added.

Could anyone please help me out? Smile

Hi. I'm looking for somebody who can unlock the AMI APTIO bios (ver F.13) that is found inside the HP Omen 17-an0xx.

If anybody is interested in unlocking it I'll try dumping it and uploading it here (although I can't seem to save it with the AMI Firmware Update Utility as it reports a wrong block size).

I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Hi, as title, I'd like to remove the whitelist from my laptop.

To be 100% sure of getting a right dump I used my Raspberry PI to directly retrieve the chip content.

I'm trying to do it by myself without any luck sadly Sad

If anyone would like to help me I'll be very grateful. Thank you for your time.

[SOLVED] Lenovo B570 CPU upgrade

Hi all,

I am working on upgrading my girlfriend's Lenovo B570 and am looking to overcome two obstacles.  I ordered a 2640m i7 to replace the aging Pentium B940 that the laptop came with, and only after the fact realized that this model doesn't appear to be on Lenovo's approved list of processors for this computer (although from a hardware perspective, I can't see any reason why it shouldn't work).  I'm hoping that someone can help me with a modified BIOS that will allow the 2640m to work.  I am still waiting on the arrival of the new processor but it should arrive some time this coming Wednesday or Thursday and I'd like to preemptively have a modded BIOS before I tear down the machine.  I've attached CPU-Z screenshots of the current system for reference. I'll be more than happy to donate to anyone who can help me get this to work!  Smile

Model: B570 1068

BIOS vendor: Phoenix UEFI

Dell Vostro 460 update BIOS for Ivy Bridge

Dell Vostro 460 motherboard, H61 chipset. H61 supports i5 3470, i7 3770, etc. But Dell did not update the BIOS.

Deathbringer, can you add micro codes? Maybe add BCLK?

BIOS: https://downloads.dell.com/bios/TR-A06_QS.EXE

I have not bought the motherboard, I will only buy it if I can get Ivy Bridge to work.

Edit: Never mind, it's H67 not H61. Ignore.
