Hello! I'm very excited to have found this site.

I am looking for an unlocked BIOS for a new laptop: 

Acer Predator Helios 300

Model: PH317-51-787B

Current Bios is version 1.13, found here: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/su....Q29AA.004 

***(You have to click on BIOS/Firmware menu, and version 1.13 is at the top).

My system recently updated itself to a generic Insyde bios rendering NVIDIA and Intel graphics useless...just want to install back the vendor bios to be able to use the video cards again.
 
kindly remove the restriction as shown in the screenshot to be able to rollback to the original Acer bios...thank you in advance

Howdy folks.  Effin' new guy here, so please be kind - I'm going to be as descriptive as I can.
I'm running a Dell Inspiron 11 3147 with the Intel N3540 CPU.  Current BIOS is InsydeH2O version A11.

My big issue is that, given this thing doesn't have a CD/DVD drive (what does these days?) I have to boot from a LiveUSB install if I want to run/install anything other than Windows.

The problem that I seem to be having is that some distros of Linux do not seem to like being on a USB partitioned with MBR.  Instead, the image files are set up for GPT partitions.  And we all know that GPT =/= MBR.  And really, I can't blame them since MBR only allows for four volumes to a physical drive.

So why would this be an issue for me?

Because for some godamnably inscrutable reason, my EFI refuses to detect USB thumb drives formatted with GPT partitions when running strictly in UEFI mode.  It will detect them, weirdly enough, in Legacy Mode, but at that point the BIOS seems to go looking for the boot files like the drive is partitioned using MBR instead of GPT.  And trying to run these more selective distros on a UEFI-compatible MBR partition just results in a no-boot condition where the boot loader starts trying to find the drive it's supposed to boot off of, but it can't because it's expecting GPT instead of MBR.

Helluva catch-22 situation.

So, I gotta ask: what's the easiest route for me to go?  Get some help here in trying to hack my BIOS into detecting GPT thumb drives?  Or modify the boot loaders to work under MBR?

Or is there some stupid-simple fix that I've been overlooking because I'm having one of those can't-see-the-forest-for-the-trees moments?

I have Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E530 and I want to update CPU microcode (I have 2030M CPU). How do I do this? Replacing PAT files doesn't help. Attaching BIOS update package for Windows.

Please help update the microcode.

Dell Vostro 460 motherboard, H61 chipset. H61 supports i5 3470, i7 3770, etc. But Dell did not update the BIOS.

Deathbringer, can you add micro codes? Maybe add BCLK?

I have not bought the motherboard, I will only buy it if I can get Ivy Bridge to work.

Advanced menu for Z465,Z565,G465,G565

I flashed BIOS and the advanced menu was opened.  I changed the settings of the integrated graphics card. Changed the amount of allocated memory. Advanced Menu was gone after a reboot. Now I have a free 768 MB RAM of 4 GB =( Old links on the forum do not work. Reset setting to default and reflash bios no solved problem. Help!

[REQUEST] Lenovo B570 CPU Whitelist

Hi all,

I am working on upgrading my girlfriend's Lenovo B570 and am looking to overcome two obstacles.  I ordered a 2640m i7 to replace the aging Pentium B940 that the laptop came with, and only after the fact realized that this model doesn't appear to be on Lenovo's approved list of processors for this computer (although from a hardware perspective, I can't see any reason why it shouldn't work).  I'm hoping that someone can help me with a modified BIOS that will allow the 2640m to work.  I am still waiting on the arrival of the new processor but it should arrive some time this coming Wednesday or Thursday and I'd like to preemptively have a modded BIOS before I tear down the machine.  I've attached CPU-Z screenshots of the current system for reference. I'll be more than happy to donate to anyone who can help me get this to work!  Smile

Hello everyone
I recently bought this laptop from a friend for really cheap and since it came with some nice specs (i7 3520m, 8gb ram, 250 ssd and 500gb hdd) but a weak gpu (intel hd) i decided to try an egpu setup, everything went perfectly smooth until i realized that i cannot use nvidia optimus because i cant force the pc to boot from igpu first since theres no option for that in the bios.
I've already searched high and low for a modded bios for this model but havent found anything so far and too much of a noob to try and do it myself and risk bricking my pc.
I'd really apreciate if someone could help me and thanks in advance.

Bios extracted with Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0, think thats how you do it right?
