[Request] HP ProDesk 405 G2 MT, looking to enable elusive setting

First, this bios is pretty difficult to work with, AMIBCP exclusively lists configuration options for menus outside of the Bios Setup Utility, there are many blank items, or items labeled "Disabled". However, I was able to unlock ~5 menus in the Bios Setup Utility following this guide:

https://forums.mydigitallife.info/thread...MSR-unlock!

These menus contain plenty of useful options, but no overclocking configuration. Using AMIBCP to examine the bios strings, it appears there is an "Overclocking" menu, which has options for "Processor Voltage Override", and "Core Ratio Limit".

Enabling the extra ~5 menus did not enable any options which may have been hidden under the existing menus, this would normally be done using AMIBCP, but as I mentioned the configuration for the Bios Setup Utility is nowhere to be found for some reason.

I've attached the bios for anyone who knows what they're doing and might be willing to help.

Advance I pardon if I'm going to talk nonsense, I'm just a beginner.
And sorry for the stupid language, I use a translator.
I would like to know whether it is possible install in my ThinkPad X240 network module Intel 8265NGW .
I bought it because it fit the characteristics, but when installed to see an error 1802 and requiring it to remove.
I need modified bios, as I understand it, right?
Could you give an instruction  what to do or self modified bios, I would be immensely grateful to you.
Angel Thank you in advance. Angel

Pentium P6100 to i3-390M in Toshiba L630

I am currently upgrading (resurrecting) a Toshiba L630 PSK60A-00E003 laptop which is running Win10.

It is a Socket G1 for the Pentium 6100 and my research shows I could go in the dual core processors to an i3-390M.  (The CPU Fan died)

Will any of the i5 such as the 460M or 480M work in this old machine? as I notice they have the turbo frequency available.

Also, in my research I noticed that I should update the BIOS "Before" I install a new processor.  The Toshiba update site doesn't have an option for Win 10 so that doesn't help?.

Can I just update the Bios with the Win 8.1 64 bit from Toshiba?.

Also, if I can go with the i3 processor, will I need to update the BIOS again?.

Confused This is my first real upgrade project so go easy on me.  Regards Squizzy.

Hello, I am using this unusual motherboard, but it wasn't problem to mod the bios to support socket 771 CPUs by adding microcodes to bios. So I am hoping, that I can get something more from my bios, the motherboard is built on nforce 730i chipset, and BIOS is Award Modular v6.00PG. I attached the latest BIOS file, and I am hoping, that someone will help me, or at least tell me how to unlock some advanced settings. Or at least set default language after reset to English, not French Big Grin  Please, I will appreciate any help possible. This bios file has already updated microcode, just unzip it.

Acer Aspire V3-771G firmware question

Hi All-
I have an Acer Aspire V3-771g notebook. The issue im having is the battery is close to dying on it.
I ordered a 9cell battery which didnt work. If i hover over the battery icon it would say "plugged in, not charging". They sent me a replacement
twice and the same issue happened. I figured the 9 cell battery wasnt fully compatible with my notebook even tho the webpage said it would work. If I put my original batter back in the notebook and plug it in and hover over the battery icon it says plugged in, charging. so I dont think anything is wrong with the notebook itself.

Im thought that there might be an issue with the old 1.15 firmware not working on newer\3rd party batteries, so I updated the firmware to 2.28 and that won't fix the issue I’m having. I tried calling there tech support, but they wouldnt help since the notebook is out of warranty.

It’s looks like i need an unlocked firmware.

Thanks!

Dell Optiplex 780 USFF Quad-Core Support

Hey everybody,

I have here an Dell Optiplex 780 in the smallest version (USFF). I want to upgrade it to an Quad-Core Processor, which is compatible to the LGA and chipset. It's the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400, which is also supported by the big brothers from the USFF model (shown here). When I turn on my upgraded system I get the following error "Alert! Incompatible processor detected. System halted!" My friend got the same error. He tried to upgrade the same Optiplex with the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600. Our current processor is the Intel Core 2 Duo E7500.
Is here an BIOS-Mod possible to support Quad-Core-CPUs? Can anybody help us? Many thanks in advance!

Recover Dell Precision T7600 by flashing it's BIOS on working T5600 by swapping chip

Hi ladies&gents and thanks already because I learnt a lot reading tons of posts: I used to play with that stuff ages ago when things were much more simple and I am surprised to see how complicated it has become!

Now, let me try to summarize what my situation is (I hope I didn't forget key elements, if so, let me know).

target: Flash T7600 Bios from a T5600

HW: I have 2 engineering (preprod) Dell Precision Systems: T5600 (up&running), T7600
what happened: T7600 doesn't finish post after playing with intel AMT settings. CMOS reset through MB didn't work. Probably the only way to fix it is to flash the BIOS because AMT parameters are not stored together with CMOS.
to know: both motherboards use the same EPROM chip which is hosted in a special socket: when opened it cuts electrical contacts so it is safe to replace the chip while the machine is running.

What I tried until now (I boot the T5600 with it's own BIOS then remove the EPROM and replace with the one to program; all DOS tests ran under Hiren's boot CD from a YUMI-created USB key):

1) Dell BIOS flash update; with this I am able to flash both chips from the T5600 with its own BIOS. Obviously if I try to use the T7600's download BIOS, the software doesn't run the update. I tried with /s /force and even if I don't receive the "wrong bios" error, the utility exits back to DOS without doing the update.

2) Extracted the BIOS from dell archive with phoenix tools 2.66 so I have a bios.gpz and a T7600A12 file but I am unable to flash them; tried with phlash tool under dos: it checks the file and then tell me "signature not found in the interface" and exits. Pubkey (x1) Marker (2.1) (Dell CBX3) (x1) status: "EFI / Insyde BIOS (Dell HDR)"

3) InsydeFlash doesn't run (Win10x64) telling me it cannot load a driver and to run it as administrator (which of course I do).

4) tried CTRL+ESC while powering on (should bring up a recovery interface/poll the usb key): doesn't work

So chances are:
- I am passing the wrong file to the phoenix flash utility because I didn't understand/found documentation on what the whole signature/SLIC/etc is (if I got it right it's a signature system that prevents people from modifying the BIOS).
- I am using the wrong method/software/parameters in order to force the BIOS flash.
- I didn't correctly extract the BIOS form Dell's .exe package (it's one that doesn't support command-line parameters to do so, don't know if precision system have a different kind of BIOS or simply more recent but the write/extract ROM and hdr to file parameters do not work)

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

PS: If you want to suggest and test, please don't forget not to include in the command line parameters that affect the machine's CMOS/NVRAM parameters because I'm flashing a chip for another target machine while the one I'm running the flash utility on is working well and I'd like to keep it this way Tongue

thanks a lot!
Alex

BIOS v.1.30 link: http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-file...130700.zip

Please find AcpiTbls.rw here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/6o65q5yo0e...cpiTbls.rw

The story is:

I had original BIOS v1.20 installed, so I did OEM activation successfully.

After upgrading to 1.30 (dont ask why!!! Sad ), SLIC Toolkit started complaining Invalidated".

All attempts to put SLIC 2.1 to the BIOS via phoenixtool266 failed - I tried almost all modes and settings.

When I try to put, say, ASUS key, phoenixtool complains the certificate doesnt match PubKey. I do suspect I need to replace it, but dont know how.

I used Aptio 4 AFUWIN to flash.

Please help!

AMI Cisco ASA 5512 BIOS help?

Any help would be appreciated, I have attached a picture of what the BIOS chip and AMI info looks like. I just want to make this firewall boot a normal OS, freeBSD most likely. Right now it will only boot to Cisco Rommon or to the ASA system software itself.

If anyone can give me any info on what I'm getting into it, it would be appreciated. The software I need to make this happen, what type of BIOS this is? The board itself is just an Intel server class 3450 chipset board with SATA eUSB and multiple Intel NIC cards, nothing too custom. The board is rumoured to be made for Cisco by SuperMicro.

Thank You

hello,
i have an old laptop a Lenovo X121e 3045cto. i'm thinking of swapping the processor form an i3-2367m to an i7-2617m

now the X121e was never supplied with an i7 the i3 processor was the highest spec. (motherboard part no. 04W3372)
i have searched the intel datasheets and i have found several i7's i think are swappable all have the same footprint FCBGA1023 and same power rating 17w.
the alternates i think are
i7-2617m (available from ebay at a reasonable price, the one i intend to use)
i7-2637m
i7-2657m
i7-2677m

I have the means to swap the chips, but i am unsure about the bios.
looking through the forums, micro-code seems to be a common modification.

Would the default bios work?
or could one of you kind people assist?

Do you think it would work?

the latest bios is here: 3045cto bios

Hi,

I really need a way to disable the discrete graphics card and let the laptop run in integrated mode only as the combined mode is not supported by any other windows than win7 and my nvidia graphics card needs way too much power for mobile work.
This submenu item is in the documentation for the bios, but not present on my system.

Thank you!
