Sony VGNSR26mn Win 10 NX bit detection error

Hi All.

I've an issue with a Sony VGNSR26MN (AMI aptio BIOS) where trying to install windows 10 returns the NX bit not supported error. The system currently runs win 7 and using coreinfo the system says DEP is supported and running and looking into the BIOS using AMIBCP4.53 the default value is on. I've read some reports on the net, especially concerning some dell model that there is an issue with certain bioses that incorrectly report (or w10 incorrectly detects) that the NX bit is switched on in the bios and that turning off the NX bit allows W10 to install.

I've modified the BIOS to have the required menus as user (and so they are visible in the bios) so I can test the theory that there is a bios programming error in reporting the correct value to W10's readiness detection routine and flipping the values will correct it. However when trying to flash the bios using AMI's flashing utility from windows an ID mismatch error is reported and so won't continue with the flashing.

I suspect I'm using the wrong flashing procedure as I need to bypass the ID checks, can anyone point me in the direction of doing it right ?

Secondly has anyone else run into this issue with the W10 readiness detection ?

NB downloaded and extracted vanilla sony bios attached

Thanks MrBen

I don't know if there are any, but it would be nice to explore them if there are!
I am waiting for tools to arrive so I can flash my bios with hardware programmer, because the bios is write protected after startup.

this BIOS is already modified with wifi-whitelist disabled and cpu microcode updated.

Hi,

I am looking to unlock the advanced menus on my:

Manufacturer: Hewlet-Packard
Model:   Folio 13 1020us

Bios revision:  F.0B
Bios Type:  Insyde H2O v3.5
Bios Download Link:  http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp60501-61000/sp60658.exe

Bios Menu Picture:  InsydeH2O_v3.5_F.0B_ScreenShot
I've tried a few tools on this forum, but they don't seem to work.

I was able to decrypt the *.FD file using Pheonix SLIC mod tool, but i'm not sure where to go from there.
I'd be happy to mod it myself if I could be pointed in the right direction, but the only other info I found about it was from Donovan6k's excellent work on the topic which is well... well over my head.

I see a few similar bios's that he had already prepared here and here, but they will not run on my machine with an error stating the versions are mismatched.

Thanks in advance!!!

MSI K9ND Speedster 1 -- AGESA update to 3.3.0.0 from 3.1.7.0

Alright, I have an interesting one for whomever is willing to give me a hand here--
K9ND-Speedster 1, dual Socket F-1207 motherboard. I need the AGESA code (which I assume is the microcode block?) in the BIOS updated to 3.3.0.0.

Link to BIOS: http://download.msi.com/archive/server/bos_exe/9652P220.zip
Microcode to replace existing AGESA code with is included in this BIOS: ftp://ftp.tyan.com/bios/S3992_v205.zip from a Tyan S3992 according to forum posts on here as I've searched through, before making this thread.

This is a Phoenix BIOS. I just got this and will not be able to quickly test it out, as I do not have a BIOS chip in the motherboard. I'm going to buy one for $12 on eBay with the latest 2.20 BIOS on it which will allow me to use 65nm quadcores, but I want to be able to use the 45nm "Shanghai" quad-core Opterons instead as they have 6MB of cache compared to 2MB-- AGESA microcode 3.3.0.0 enables this, apparently.

I have no idea how any of this is supposed to work as modifying AMD motherboards is completely foreign to me, and I'm too afraid of bricking the board on my own-- I'd rather have someone who is skilled in this sort of thing to have a go at this instead that has modified Phoenix BIOSes in AMD motherboards before and knows what to look for.

if you attempt this for me, once again note that I will not be able to confirm the modification's success immediately due to lack of the proper 8Mbit BIOS chip for the quadcore BIOS I so desperately need to get the system to even boot.
Thank you very much for your time, as I'm sure you are very busy otherwise.

Bios corrupted woun't boot help

Hello! My problem is that after i set the bios to default settings it woun't boot anymore and at boot options there isn't anything no hdd no cd-rom. When i start the computer it automatically enters bios. The hdd and cd-rom are set ahci and there isn't any other option. If i insert an usb stick it will detect it so i figured i can do a bios flash using easyflash a builtin bios update tool, but the bios is already at the last version and it woun't alow me to flash it because of the update date being the same, it needs a newer update. So i figured maybe i can download the same update from asus support and using mooding tools change the built date, so that i can flash the bios. Do you think this could work? I already opend the bios update file using ami mmtoll but i have a hard time finding the date module and modify it. Some advice would be of greate help, thanx!

SONY VAIO SVF142C29U BIOS

Greetings from Venezuela.

This post is to request some help from any of you guys. My Sony Vaio SVF142C29U received a notification from the Sony Update software requesting permission to update the computer's BIOS to version R0230DA, which I accepted. The BIOS flashed fine (installation was successful it said). However, computer does not boot and when I turn it on it shuts down by itself in a couple seconds. I have access to another working computer bought at the same store (VAIO FIT 14E) but with a lesser processor but same motherboard.

I have tried to download and rename the original Bios file and put it on USB and CD-ROM for it to recover and also pressing keyboard combinations without success. I don't know the correct naming or key presses for the recovery file. Also, I don't know if the computer is trying to read from USB or CD.

If anybody can tell me how I can recover my computer and make it boot again, I would highly appreciate it. I don't have the money to get a new one at this point and it is my main computer. Also, it is out of warranty.

In case you need me to do anything on any of the 2 computers or you need me to provide any additional information, please let me know. Any help is highly appreciated.

Again, best of regards and thanks in advance...

Pentium D D820 support to Dell GX520 Bios

Hello.
I have 3 Dell GX520 left from a upgrade at office.
The problem is that the one of them came with the D820 and is working properly so i believed that if i order 2 more D820 for the other 2 gx520 i will make them identical.
The problem is that they display a warning message about incompatible processor, i hit the F1 then is working like usual.
So after a little research i found that while the 3 pc are completely identical, the one that came with the D820 has different motherboard name than the other 2, propably a different revision?Perhaps.
So here are the photos this is the processor that i need to be added to bios and this is the motherboard details of the gx520 that came with D820 from Dell.
The bios link is http://downloads.dell.com/bios/A11GX620.EXE
Please if possible someone to help, otherwise the 2 pc are useless since they come with P4.

I have a notebook sony VPCSA35GB, to install a hd SSD needed change bios to activate the ahci. But I can not run hd SATA 3, even noting that the chipset of my notebook support SATA 3. Is it possible to activate the SATA 3 through any change in the bios?
Why my chipset supports SATA 3 and I can not use a hd SATA 3, and is limited to SATA 2?

The chipset is Intel HM67 Express Chipset and the hd is a samsung 840 evo.
I thank you for all the attention.

[Request] Add Phenom X2 550 processor support to Asus M2N32 WS Pro

$

I currently have an Asus M2N32 WS Pro upgraded to the most current Asus bios version (2001) available in hopes to use this most excellent board with an upgraded processor.  The Athlon 64 X2 4600+ that is currently installed works perfectly.

Upon installing my tested and working Phenom II X2 550 BE, the power supply powers up, but nothing else happens.  Before flashing, the power supply would fire up, run for 4 seconds, and shut down.

Through the research I've done over the last couple nights I believe that the Asus M2N32 SLI Deluxe bios version 2209 bios would be a good donor for the processor compatability.  I would love to figure this out myself, but I'm kinda at a loss of where to start modifying my bios.

I ran across your guys's site while researching how to make this proc work in this motherboard, and if the site is still active, I'd love to get into modding bios.  The journey is more interesting to me than the destination for this kinda stuff, and regardless if I'm handed a patched bios or not, I'll still be trying to figure out how to do it on my own, and hopefully, helping others do it in the future.  I will continue to search this site, but if anyone has a good starting point for bios modding, thatd be awesome!  And if someone could whack together a bios to get my daughter's computer up and running so she can play on the Minecraft FTB Monster server I just got installed for her, I could probably arrange for a custom bracelet or whatever to show her gratitude.  (She's 7 hehe)

I did read the Readme pertaining to the bios mod requests - I do believe I can find a motherboard around here to run that chip natively and get the CPUID number off of the Phenom, as well as any other information I might have missed.  Please be kind, and let me revel in your wisdom!  Who knows, I might just turn out useful here...

Thank you so much for your replies in advance.  From everything I've read, you all seem to be a buncha kickass peeps.  I'm subscribed to the thread with email alerts which blow up my phone directly, so expect my hasty reply!

SLIC Requested:  Either 2.1 or 2.3 from Asus or Dell

Tried with Phoenixtool 2.59 but no matter what I do, I either get an Error 9 - Index was outside the bounds of the array or unable to add SLIC code.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!   - Kelxin

Update:

I found the Phoenix Tool 2.64 which allowed me to SLIC it, but am unable to test the modified bios due to a secure check on the file.   I looked at the file itself and it doesn't look like its encapsulated and looks a lot like the X99 Extreme 11 Bios that someone hand edited for me before.  Anyone have any advice on how to pass the secure check when the file isn't encapsulated?
