[Request] Compaq CQ-62 209WM

$

Hello, my apologies as I am new to this forum and usually I don't like starting things off by asking for something, however as stated I need some BIOS modification done to my CQ-62 209WM. It has this inside H20 f.00 BIOS although I tried to update it although it still says I have the old 2010 version. I need optimal performance for my new SSD so i need ACHI controls, white list removal (to access my new card), and if possible advanced options as well. Sp 52509 is what I tried to update it to although i'm not sure that worked, however it wouldn't help the fact my SSD is in IDE mode and i cant upgrade my wifi to anything dual band or with a significant data transfer rate.

I have no troubles with it although I should mention I upgraded the processor to an AMD phenom II P860 Caspian triple core, I am using an upgraded SSD (intel 730 series 240gb), and lastly I upgraded the ram to 16gb. Its on the native Windows 7 64-bit home edition premium OA.

Please help Smile,

Rob

Whatever else I need to do please let me know.

This might be the wrong section for making this request but the custom splash screen section is not very active compared to this one.
I have been trying various methods to unlock the bios on this dell to apply the custom logo without any success. At this point I would rather pay someone who has more knowledgeable on the subject to make the custom bios for me. Here is a link to the bios. http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER02699280M/1/O7020A02.exe
The module which contains the original logo is EB3001D5-F827-4938-95E2-5C8F644B966F_57.ROM
I have attached the image I would like as the custom logo.
Please pm me if you have the ability to work on Dell bios I will of course compensate you for your time.

Extracting .fd file from OEM's .exe (AA E1-571)

I'm having problems with fan control in W7 using v2.x BIOS in my Acer Aspire E1-571. I'm wanting to try and downgrade to v1.x, but downgrades aren't allowed.

I've tried opening the .exe file from Acer's site, but no .fd, .rom or .bin file is visible in the archive. I'm assuming it's encoded into the .exe file itself.

Anybody know how I can extract it?

Edit: Okay, no need to extract it. Found old versions with it unencrypted here.

Unfortunately it seems I can't downgrade from 2.x to 1.x even using recovery mode.

Request, remove whitelist from Lenovo X230 2320-2QG

Hi, I have problems with the inbuilt wifi card (works everywhere, but shows intermittent errors to log in
to my encrypted corporate network, which I do need a lot)
- I do not know which card I am going to use. Can the whitelist be removed in general, before I know the ID of the new device?
- If I need to provide you with some info, like my Bios image, please give me a link for some backup tool...I googled, but found
a lot of wares sites that attempted to install malware, Would be extremely thankful for a safe link
I run an Exe file for new bios installation, which placed some info into Drivers /Flash folder, if that is helpful, I can provide it.
I resent the idea of the whitelisting - I contacted an official importer of service parts for my PC into my country, to get a list of
officially sanctioned card, and did not even get a reply...on their web site, I can only see mobile wlan cards, not wifi. Thank you
my present card is a default Intel Centrino Advanced Advanced-N 6205

Hi,

Tried a lot of ways to change the whitelist, Every way on the net I  could find, but no luck. I was hoping that since 2010-2011 the possibilities had changed, but no luck for me.
Is there anybody willing to help me to get this job done? It would be highly apreciated.

Toshiba Satellite A110 CPU upgrade/fan issue

Hey there,

I've managed to upgrade an old Toshiba Satellite A110-162 (PSAB6E / UK Model) from a celeron M 410 (PPGA478) to a C2D T5200 (same socket etc). Everything works fine, boots up, bios is fine etc. Great. The board has an ATI Xpress 200m chipset. Bios is v.1.70 (XP) and is a Phoenix Bios.

HOWEVER.

Once out of the bios and into the OS (either on Windows XP/ or a linux live CD) the fan completely stops. Runs fine in the bios, dead once the OS boot procedure starts. Needless to say, things start getting hot pretty quick. The fan at no point comes back on, unless you reboot back to the BIOS/ start.

I can only assume that although the board and chipset allow the system to boot, there is some info missing or not present in the BIOS to allow the power management to work. I have considered it could be either ACPI info, something in the MISER.ROM or possibly missing info in the CPU UPGRADE module 'update.rom', concerning CPUID info.

I don't want to snip one of the power cables on the fan to force it on all the time. Could anyone more experienced than me with the phoenix bios editor try to track down where the CPUID info is held or whether there is a hidden 'fan' option that can be revealed.

Bios is the latest version. HERE.
http://free.mailbigfile.com/a6f2e17f9260398de694c826c6814b58/listFiles.php

or attached (BIOS). Is this a common thing with older Toshibas?

cheers for looking.

($30 Paypal) Lenovo Thinkpad L530 3720QM support

I recently upgraded the cpu in my E520 from a 2520M to a 2760QM. Though the cpu was not officially supported, it worked perfectly without so much as a bios update. It even benchmarks above passmark's average.

Smash cut to ebay a couple weeks later where I picked up a L530 and a 3720QM in an attempt to pull the same trick on an Ivy Bridge system. I installed the new cpu and it didn't post. Just some beep errors.

After doing quite a lot of research and buying a spi programmer I have tried the following:

Updating the BIOS (beep errors)
Updating the microcodes (beep errors)
Flashing a coreboot rom based on the T530 (would not even power on)
And flashing a rom with all microcode related data replaced with W530 code (still booted old processor, but gave beep errors with the 3720QM)

So this leaves me with a question. What could I be missing? The sockets and chipsets are compatible. It has got to be a BIOS problem. Is there a CPU whitelist I am not aware of?

I have not really been able to find any further information and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Alternatively, if someone can figure this out with the attached BIOS file, I will send $30 via paypal

I just restored an HP Pavilion p6210y, I had to update BIOS because the old BIOS was not compatible with the CPU, that was a nightmare because HP requires a stable Windows installation to flash BIOS, which I could not get with the incompatible CPU. I got it, but for future reference, do you know a way around this, like a BIOS file I could boot to? HP only supplies the .EXE, do you know of a way to extract the BIOS file from it? The new version of BIOS has an issue that causes the fan speed to randomly speed up for a few seconds and back down. People are complaining about it all over the internet, but no fix. There is another thread with someone requesting a mod for a different version of this board (Viola, not Violet). I would like this fixed, it would be even better if I could change the fan speeds in the BIOS GUI. Overclocking options would be good too.

If you get it unlocked it, could you please explain how you did it? Also, does BIOS typically allow downgrading?

New BIOS: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-85555-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4063&productOid=4006885&sw_lang=&product=4006020

Thanks a lot. Smile
