[REQUEST] Asus K73SD unlock/mod request

Hi there!

I 've just collect an Asus laptop, model K73SD.
I'd like to upgrade this laptop but BIOS is lock and there are only a few things that a can modify (boot order, virtualization, flash...).

Regarding to the Intel website, motherboard with HM65 Intel chipset are able to run core from the 3rd generation (instead of the i3 2nd generation inside the laptop). It just need a BIOS firmware update.
So I intend to upgrade the CPU and upgrade with an i5 or i7 core from the 3rd generation, but the last BIOS update I found doesn't mention if the 3rd generation support is possible with...

So, could you please help me to know if a 3rd generation core will run on my laptop, and help me to unlock the AMi BIOS ?

I'm attaching the last BIOS update from Asus website.

Thank!

Ps : To Genius239, I already test your BIOS mod from https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...ios-unlock but I have an error message about the date of this mod when I try to flash it

Intel VC820 - Tualatin support

Hi,

I have an Intel VC820 motherboard which does not have support for Tualatin CPUs in the BIOS. When using a Tualatin, the fans spin up and the CPU gets warm, but there are no beeps and the screen doesn't turn on.

I've attached the CPU and motherboard pages from CPU-z while using a Coppermine CPU.

I believe the Asus P3C-E does have Tualatin support and uses the same i820 chipset as the Intel VC820, if that helps.

Thanks

NVMe boot for Lenovo Carbon X1 3rd Generation (ThinkPad)

Hi all,

I currently looking to try and get the Carbon X1 3rd Gen to boot from an NVMe M.2 drive. I understand that Lenovo didn't add the ability (or turned off the ability) to boot from an NVMe drive into their BIOS revisions and was wondering if there would be a way to mod the existing mod version to allow it, either by injecting the DXE file or turning the setting back 'on'.

The current BIOS version is 1.28 and can be found here. I'm currently using the Clover-boot method via USB to boot to my NVMe drive (Samsung 970 Evo 250GB). Windows, MacOS (as a hackintosh) and Linux see and can use the NVMe drive when they've loaded, it's just the BIOS not playing ball; you get the error message "2103: Detection error on SSD0 (M.2)" on boot.

The BIOS files are in .FLx format, which I believe are a compressed file format?

Can anyone help? I'm sure there's a fair few Carbon X1 3rd Gen users out there after the same thing too! Big Grin

Thanks,

YesiamNovas

Bricked Lenovo Y410P BIOS

Hi BIOS community Smile,

I have a Lenovo Y410P laptop and I recently made the mistake of trusting (and running) Lenovo's current BIOS update (3.08), which appeared to finish running the flash utility and restart the laptop, but after restarting it does not post. Upon pressing the power key the display never turns on, the power light and keyboard LED's turn on and are illuminated for ~10 seconds before the laptop power cycles and tries again infinitely.

I tried researching the problem for the past 2 days and have tried creating a FAT16, 1Gb partition on an 8Gb USB-pen drive (the other 7Gb is unpartitioned/unformatted) and loading the Crisis BIOS .bin file ("Yx01.bin"), as per an online guide found here. Using the Fn+R, (or Fn+B) keys I have had no results, unfortunately. It seems the laptop is indifferent to the keys I hold down. I have tried 12 or so different combinations I've seen online but none of them seem to have an effect. The USB drive's activity LED illuminates steadily for a second immediately after power-up, then never again until the next power cycle.  I believe this is just a normal power-up effect however, as the same happens to the LED's on a USB keyboard I tried attaching. Perhaps the USB is not set-up correctly, or the problem goes deeper...

Being thorough.. I've also tried WINCRIS from the linked guide but no amount of compatibility/administrator options could make the program run, I'm hoping to try it again tomorrow on another computer (without Windows 10).

I don't think my skills can take me any further so I'm reaching out to all of you with greater experience who might be able to save my beloved laptop!

Thank you in advance!!

Avery

Hey,
i have a Lenovo L540 with a bad Bios. First it just showed the Lenovo Logo and a Time Error. "real time clock error". And i was not able to enter the Bios.
I took a Dump with a CH341A Programmer and tried to flash an other dump from the Internet. Now the Notebook powers on immediately after plugging in the power cord. The fan rotates and the screen is black!

What can i do?

I added the dump i took before i tried to reflash the chip and the File from the Lenovo Homepage.

i hope you can help me
best regards
Mawa

[REQUEST] ThinkPad X230 Tablet BIOS mod (& some questions first)

This is my first post here, hope I didn't post in the wrong section

Hello everyone, I decided to flash a modded BIOS on my ThinkPad X230 Tablet, mainly to remove the WLAN whitelist, but also for other stuff.
I'm currently waiting for the SOIC8 clip I ordered to arrive, but in the meantime, I have a few questions:

  1. This forum has a section dedicated to whitelist removals, where should I post if I wanted to do that along with other stuff?
  2. I'll be using a Raspberry Pi 3 B. Just to be safe, I decided to test all the pins I'll be connecting to the chip, and I found CS# to be outputting 3.12V constantly. Is it supposed to do that?
  3. Can voltage control and/or clock control be unlocked?
  4. I want to perform these mods in order of importance: WLAN whitelist removal, unlock of the Advanced menu, voltage/clock control, eGPU fix, WWAN whitelist removal. All are of these compatible with one another?
  5. What other cool stuff could be achieved by modding the Lenovo BIOS (no plans on installing coreboot)?
  6. Can I keep the security chip enabled with a custom BIOS? I'm asking because I have BitLocker enabled, which AFAIK stores the keys using the security chip. What about Secure boot (Windows won't retrieve the BitLocker unlock key if I disable that)
  7. If Lenovo releases a BIOS update, would it be possible to "unlock" some way to flash and patch via software? I'm asking because I don't have a Raspberry Pi myself, and are instead borrowing one.

Yeah it's a dinosaur, I saw a hack on here to upgrade the processor. But I wondered if someone could hack anymore into it. More ram or maybe give the onboard graphics more ram to share? Oh don't know if it's related but my bios sees 4 gigs of RAM but the OS only sees 3gig.(yes it is a 64 bit OS) id like to give that lost gig of ram to the graphics if I could.

I made a video based on the guide here

PEGATRON IPMIP-H55-INSPUR unlock Lynnfield CPUs support

Hello!, is possible to unlock/upgrade microcode to support Lynnfield CPUs? this is a OEM motherboard, i suppose it has a artificial limitation to support only clarkdale CPUs, when the Intel H55 supports all 1156 CPUs, if you found any other stuff to unlock in this bios it will be great!

last thing the ugly oem splash logo, could be removed?

PEGATRON IPMIP-H55-INSPUR Ver 1.02

motherboard is working fine with a core i5 650 (clarkdale)

i got a core i5 750 (Lynnfield) so i hope i can use it with this motherboard :-(

the bios is directly extracted from the Motherboard with AFUdos.
