HP 255 G5 BIOS Rollback

Hey, people!

Can you help me, please?

I can't rollback to previous version of BIOS after update to the latest.
It seems that HP locked rollback ability, though f.33 isn't critical update version.

BIOS file name - 082F6.bin
BIOS Current - F.33 
BIOS Previous - F.24
BIOS versions tried - f22, f24, f30 and f32

Tried rollback through Win+B, with USB flash and F2->System Diagnostics->Firmware Management w/o success.
It says "Unable to read signature file."
Also used PhoenixTool 2.6.6., but it didn't show BIOS Recovery filenames. I even created SLIC BIOS file (ofc, he never worked for rollback due to validation error).

Please, help me someone!

p.s. Fan control is messed up after update to the latest BIOS on HP 255 G5 laptop.
Now it spins on high speed all the time, right after pushing Power On button, and so on. 
Fan noise is driving me crazy for few days already. But there is no overheating.

Hello, I have an acer travelmate p2510 that I would like unlocked, specifically the option to be able to boot from LEGACY boot option. It is currently limited to UEFI no matter what settings are changed. Is this possible?

Hi,
    Nick here, hoping you could help me out with with my laptop, but first I just want to take the time to say thanks. Thank you.

I have a Sony laptop (model VPC-F1390), Bios: AMI(American Mega trends???) version R0190Y9, and I wanted to upgrade the cpu and unlock the bios so I might be able to tweak it and get a few more years out of her. I bought her new and she has lasted me a long time, and with 3 kids I don't have the money to just buy another laptop so I decided to upgrade it. I installed a SSD, upgraded the ram to 8GB and purchased an I7-940XM. When I did this I didn't think I did it blindly even though I did. I researched compatibility and I figured if the chipset was compatibly I was good, but I am not. I have been doing some more research and found I need the bios modded to incorporate the microcode for the new cpu. FYI, when I installed the new CPU all I got was a blank screen, "what an upgrade" one of my boys said as they laughed at me. Please find attached is the report from CPUZ, the latest bios upgrade from sony, and the intel microcode.

[Request] T440 BIOS Mod Request

Hello guys! 

I would like to change my WiFi + Bluetooth card to something else and can't because of the whitelists that Lenovo puts on their laptops.
I have already bought myself a CH341a SPI Programmer and have read my BIOS from the Winbound chip to a file. 

Could someone please help me by:
1.) Removing the whitelist
2.) Unlocking the advanced BIOS menu

Details of Laptop:
Lenovo T440
BIOS CHIP: Winbound W25Q128.V (as read by flashrom)

Lenovo X230 Tablet bios help

I flashed a mod to remove the whitelist from my tablet using the soic clip and ch341a programmer. When I attempted to clip the chip the first few times I couldn't get the programmer to recognize it. So I reclipped a couple of times. I finally dumped my bios and sent it off to someone here and then flash the mod he sent me back. Now my laptop won't power on. When I press the power button the power button lights up as well as the wifi light and the two lights on the rear of the display for a second then they all turn off and that's it. Now HDD activity and no fan or display. Has anybody had experience with this? Or is my laptop toast.

Hello, I would like some help unlocking the XMP settings in the BIOS, but wouldn't mind other settings being unlocked either.  I have tried doing it myself using AMIBCP 5.0.2.0023 (it was all I could find), but when I try to flash the modified BIOS using AFUDOS or AFUWIN I get a checksum error.

I have attached the latest BIOS for the laptop.

greetings today a fateful event occurred, I downloaded a BIOS from a friend on our forum and when I changed a dedicated video memory, the PC no longer calls. he turns the black screen and the fingers are seen, but soon after he whistles and turns off and stays in that process. If you would like to know if there is a BIOS to enter non-pendrive recovery mode. enter BIOS.fd to boot from the pendrive. My notebook is an acer aspire e1 571.

Acer TravelMate P253-M Corrupt Bios

I've found a few old threads relating to this laptop but i've been unable to resolve the issue as many of the links are dead etc.

I've got a 2013 i3 Acer TravelMate P253-M which powers on, fans spin up, occasionally beeps however there is no display.

I'm unsure what BIOS it is and I'm unable to check as I can't get the display on, googling seemed to point to an Insyde BIOS.

I have tried various guides but either im doing something wrong or have the incorrect BIOS file. 

I've been using Q5WV1X64.fd on a FAT32 formatted 125mb USB (yes mb, it was the only one I could find under 2gb).

Any advice or assistance would be great.

Possibiltity of Lenovo Ending their Practice of Whitelisting Certain WiFi Cards?

After going through the last firmware file for my laptop, the Lenovo IdeaPad 300-15ISK, multiple times, and not finding anything relating to the well known WiFi whitelist, I have started suspecting that I may indeed have no whitelist on my laptop.
My laptop was made nearly three years ago, and since then, I had updated my laptop's firmware whenever a new version came out (I am a former Windows user), so there is no possibility that any sort of whitelist, or lack thereof, would be limited to my specific unit, but rather encompasses all IdeaPad 300-15ISK and 300-14ISK users (they share the same firmware).

I had first had a Realtek RT8821AE in it, which caused me no end of grief on Windows, though on Linux, while still causing a lot of grief, at least it was mostly functional on (plus I got to help test testing drivers until it got stable), after which I had switched to the Intel Wireless-AC 3165, without realizing at the time that Lenovo even implements whitelists.
Later I had switched to the Intel Wireless-AC 7260, after upgrading my sister's laptop to the Intel Wireless-AC 9260, which worked without issues, as I had guessed, given it's release date.

Yesterday, after thinking the situation over, given my suspicions, I decided to test one of my Intel Wireless 9260s (I had bought an entire batch on AliExpress, Fenvi is the best supplier I have seen so far, plus their FV-102 M.2 to PCIe adapter is simply superb for WiFi) inside my laptop, and miraculously, I am typing this post, while connected to the network using the Intel Wireless-AC 9260, which was released over a year after the last firmware revision was released for the IdeaPad 300-15ISK and 300-14ISK was released.

This may or may not be a great step for Lenovo (I still prefer Dell though), however I would like to hear from all of you about Lenovo products with WiFi that were released starting from 2015, in order to verify whether Lenovo has truly stopped whitelisting WiFi cards.

I bought ASUS motherboard: ASUS Z10PA-D8
All good! It works fine!
But some days ago I have read about opportunity to add TurboBoost support to all cores.
So I mod. my bios, so the first step is done;
But when I want to add EFI patch - it does't adding and wrote: Wrong CPU.

QWESTIONS:
1) How can I add TurboBoost support for my configuration of system?
2) I think I should do smth with v3.EFI but what should I do?

Changing fsb or multipliers in Bios, aspire 3680, 5570z

Hi,

I am using T7200 in my aspire 3680, and before I got a good deal I had T7600. It works fine if I overclock it with setfsb to 2.3 GHz. 

I ordered T7600 g with unlocked multipliers to increase speed even more. Is it possible for you guys to integrate fsb switch or multipliers switch into bios of aspire 3680, 5570z? 

What is interesting also, this mother board is said to support 4 gb of ram but utilizes only 3 GB, is this bios issue or chip? I am using 64bit version of Windows.

[REQUEST] Dell Poweredge T20 CPU

It has been awhile since I have been on here and my T20 server has brought me back.

I tried putting an i5-4590 quad core cpu into my server and it would not boot.

The server has a dual core pentium and supports a quad core Xeon.

The i5-4950 has the same core/thread count as the xeon and the same TDP.

Would it be possible to add the cpu microcode for the i5 cpu to my Dell bios?
