Correcting a Lenovo Y40-70 BIOS' Info

I have come across a Lenovo Y40-70 with the internal Serial/Model marked as "INVALID" in the BIOS and, while I can't verify, am having difficulties installing Windows.  I've played with many tools (PhoenixTool, WinPhlash, UEFIWinflash, etc) and have seen tutorials for fixing other BIOS that have this issue, but am unable to access the DMI parameters to set them correctly.  WinPhlash/UEFIWinflash gives me a "wrong BIOS" or "incorrect .bin" or some sort error when I try to access DMI settings.  Other tools don't even give me the option to access DMI, or anything close to what I want.

TL;DR -  how can I add/change my model name and serial into my Y40-70 BIOS?

Requesting an unlocked BIOS for my Lenovo Thinkpad P50

I know my bios is rewrite protected, with that being said I just have one question. Will I have to upload a backup of my bios straight from the chip with the use of the SPI programmer or will a backup with the FPT tool suffice?

Lenovo Ideapad Y700-15ISK

Hi all, new user here. Maybe not the correct place to ask this as I want to change the logo myself if someone can help me on my way. But if someone can do it for me, that's alright too.

I have been searching for days now on how to change the ugly Lenovo logo when starting up my Lenovo Ideapad Y700-15ISK.

Last weekend I didn't know anything about it and I learned a lot since, but now I am stuck. This is how far I 've gotten:

I downloaded the bios update from Lenovo: both cdcn35ww.exe (older version) and cdcn53ww.exe (latest version), both end up with the same problem.

In my BIOS I enabled the option to flash back to a previous version, so I don't get an error message in Windows 10 that I'm trying to go back to an older version or already have the version I 'm trying to install (after which the program ends).

Running the BIOS update I downloaded opens "Setup - Lenovo BIOS Update Utility" and extracts a file with the same name (cdcn53ww.exe) to C:\BIOS\CDCN53WW\

Running this file opens "Insyde H2OFFT v5.56" and extracts the following files to C:\USERS\ThC_be\AppData\Local\Temp\7zs900E.tmp\:
CDCN53WW.fd
Ding.wav
FlsHook.exe
FlsHookDll.dll
FWUpdLcl.exe
H2OFFT-W.exe
iscflash.dll
iscflash.sys
iscflashx64.sys

Happy to see the fd file I try to open it in EzH2O thinking I 'll be able to change the Logo/Splash Screen only to get the following error message: "Program can't find fv information in FD file".

Anybody have an idea on what I can do now? Thanks in advance.

Lenovo IdeaPad S485 Whitelist Removal

With a EEPROM programmer I read the BIOS chip, but can't find how to remove whitelist. Search the forum, looking for a tutorial, but no luck. Try Phoenix BIOS editor, Phoenixtool, no luck.
This notebook came to repair without a wireless card. I tried other boards, but without success
ROM file name: LENOVO G485 - COMPAL LA-8681P REV 1.0 - ORIG OK - FW=6CCN93WW - CS=2BFC4FA8 - U4 W25Q32BV (yes, a long name, but useful)

[Help] Core i5 560m with Lenovo Y550P

Hi folks. I have Lenovo y550p with i3-350m. Intel HM55 chipset and Insyde bios.
I upgraded my cpu to i7 740QM with no problem.
But it was heating, under 4 core load it was throttle, plus my fan doesn't stop all day, hated it.
I sold i7 i740QM and buy second hand i5 560m.
BUT
When i install i5 560m to my laptop, there is no luck.. Fan is spining for 2 seconds and fan stops, also screen doesn't show anything, complete black. And stays that way..  Long pressed power button and finally i could turn that f*** laptop off. I tried but never worked.. Never find a solution on the internet.


I think the problem is BIOS. (microcode or whatever it is ??)

I'm using latest bios; 1ECN33WW (V5.07x64)
NOTE: I'm using  "whitelisted" modded version of this bios. Because i'm using new wifi card Wireless-AC 7260 Plus Bluetooth.

Note; It contains folders. Original 32 bits, 64 bits and Modded 32 bits, 64 bits.  I'm using modded -whitelisted- x64 please use that.


Please help i have to do this.. I searched a lot but couldn't find anything and don't know how...
This laptop from 2010 and there was different models.. i3-3xx, i5-4xx, i5-7xx. I could efford for i3..
i5-5xx models never sold i thing this is reason why it doesnt support from ist bios??
Chipset and cpu socket is fine, it should be working with i5 560m?

Need help with Asus N73sv Bios

Hello, i've tried to unlock my n73sv bios and managed to get a lot of hidden stuff visible by changing it to USER with AMIBCP4.55.0070 , but i can't get chipset to show and any guide i follow says that i need to find the setup in MMTool, but i can't find setup anywhere there... :c
could someone try to unlock my bios further? i need acces to certain stuff to get a external gpu running,
i'll link my latest bios that i alread worked on.

Help Shuttle SX58J3 Xeon X5650 / 5670 Support please

Hi,

bought a Shuttle SX58J3 with an 1366 Mainboard within.

An i7-930 runs fine with it but I wan't to upgrade to either an Xeon X5650 or an X5670, both processors I alreaday have bought... Tongue

With one of these Xeons the Shuttle won't start (no picture) and the fan of the graphic card runs at 100%. 

Back to the i7-930 all fine again, so most probably the Xeons are not supported by Bios.

Even I read somewhere that the Xeon X5650 has the same CPU-Microcode as the i7-980x and this one is officially supported since Bios Revision 3 and I already flashed the lastest Version 5, available here and also attached:

So long speech, if a pro here could upgrade the Bios - if possible - with the microcodes of the Xeons X5650 and / or X5670 that would be fantastic!!! Rolleyes

Hi after a failed attempt to flash bios, I bricked the laptop. Now I try to find the correct name for the Bios and configuration USB KEY. 

The service manual explain the procedure but when I make it he enter in the rewriting bios mode and the USB key blink twice and the laptop don't shutdown automatically, I assume the correct Bios is not catched. 

I did this procedure in the past for an Insyde H2o bios but the file was in .fd format not really like here.

Procedure : 


Rewriting the BIOS
1. Set the system to boot mode.
2. Turn off the power to the computer
3. Remove the external cables and cards
4. Set the USB Flash Memory containing Bios rewriting data..
5. Turn on the power while holding down the tilde(US keyboard)/tilde hashtag(UK keyboard)/²>"racine carré" key(French Keyboard) character key until LED blinks
6. The BIOS rewriting starts
7. When the process is completed, it the system automatically reboots.

Hey there,
I was wondering if someone could give me some support with unlocking/overclocking the laptop mentioned in the subject, it is using an AMI Bios (Date: 08/22/2013)

My main reason for doing this is being able to unlock power delivery or being able to maybe undervolt the cpu so it won't keep running into the power limit (17w) and slowing itself down.

Hello,

I was updating this system's BIOS (using the common windows installer from HP) when the system rebooted unexpectedly and didn't come up again.

Actually after turning on the caps/lock LED blinks and after a few seconds the system fan turns to full speed. Display is totally black.
I did a lot of research on this blinking issue - result is always the same: hardware failure --> send to HP.
But I'm sure that the hardware itself is ok (RAM replaced in both memory slots, removed wwan card, removed wlan card).

Is there a way to flash BIOS using a USB stick? I read some posts about extracting files from HP bios & press Windows+B while turning on.

Good day!

I'm trying the eGPU (with RX480) but I'm getting a black screen, so I figured maybe the NVidia GT940m is interfering but I cannot pull the parts off. Doing google search for a 6 hours straight lead me to idea, to manually disable it on bios but unfortunately  my bios got a limited options and barely can do a thing.

I would really appreciate anyone who help. Thank you in advance and have a nice day.
