HP Pavilion G6 whitelist removal

Hi,
I own an HP Pavilion G6 1126tx. I have tried to replace the original Wifi card with an Intel Dual Wireless AC-3160 but I get a message saying "Wireless Module not supported", WLAN Module ID (702). I didn't know there was a whitelist, but now, yes, this one is not in the list of supported cards as per the HP Maintenance Manual for the Pavilion G6.
I am using BIOS version F.66
Can anyone help me to circumvent this.

Thanks

Sleep malfunctions only in UEFI mode

I have an Asus X54H-SX137D [laptop](https://www.asus.com/Notebooks/X54H/) using an AMI Aptio 4.5 firmware.. It has a facility to use UEFI, and here's the problem (also documented [here](http://superuser.com/questions/608022/ca...ementation) )

The UEFI functionality is almost flawless in every other respect, EXCEPT that sleep function simply doesn't work... I have verified that it's a firmware issue because the exact same thing happens in both windows and linux (fedora). Before I used UEFI, sleep was working perfectly in BIOS-mode booting.

To be precise, what happens is that the screen goes off, the disk activity pattern indicating going to sleep is happening, and then gets completely stuck while still being on. The only thing I can do from this point onwards is to force-off by holding the power button for 4 seconds.

It would be great if someone here with some ideas can help in fixing what looks to me very obviously as a bug in the laptop firmware ([direct link to download the file](http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/K54L/K54LAS208.zip) ). I'm quite familiar with the BIOS options, but I'm new to firmware modding and I'd love to learn... (hopefully it has a BIOS chip socket?)

AMI BIOS doesn't see SSD (sometimes)

Hi!

Maybe someone can help me solve this problem that is very strange for me:

When I turn off my laptop I need it to "cooldown" at least 20 minutes without power cord.
If I wait everything is ok, the laptop usually (but now every time) boot up.

I I don't wait, the laptop cannot see my SSD (like no ssd is plugged). This is not an SSD trouble, I tried 4 SSD and 2 mechanical HDD, same problem.

I'm not the only one that have this trouble as you can see here:
https://forum.toshiba.eu/showthread.php?...-L50-A-1EH

My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L50-A-1D6 (PSKK6E)

My bios version is 1.90 (this file http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-file...153531.zip )
The bios is AMI optio (I don't know which version, maybe you can help me identify it).

.jpg   20160913_172038.jpg (Size: 353.84 KB / Downloads: 1)

dmidecode tells me that this is smbios-2.7 dmi-2.7
with vendor toshiba and not much more.

Also I run only linux (ubuntu 16.04) actually so I cannot use windows flashing tools, but if it's needed I can install win7 just for resolve the trouble.

Thank you in advance!

Hello.  I have an HP Elitebook 8540w and I'd like to replace the WLAN module with one that supports 802.11ac

I tried searching for BIOS that have already been modified, but I found conflicting or very old info.

Current module is an Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4238&SUBSYS_11118086&REV_35

I'd like to replace it with an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 (2.4/5 GHz) + Bluetooth PCIe Mini WiFi.  I don't have the hardware string as I'd need to install in a notebook to get it.  I may be able to do this, though.  I may be able to take an Acer Aspire One D250 apart and try it there.  Let me know if this is needed.

Here's some info from msinfo32:

System Manufacturer Hewlett-Packard
System Model HP EliteBook 8540w (VD444AV)
System Type x64-based PC
Processor Intel® Core™ i7 CPU       Q 840  @ 1.87GHz, 1867 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date Hewlett-Packard 68CVD Ver. F.23, 3/8/2013
SMBIOS Version 2.6
Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "6.1.7601.17514"

I think this BIOS is not a locked one.

FYI, I replaced the motherboard a while ago and installed the new CPU at the same time.  Don't think this matters, but thought I'd say in case it does.

Let me know any other info required.

Thank you in advance.

Hi guys,

Im having this annoying coil whine from my motherboard I did various of tests and I nailed it to the Vcore of the CPU when my notebook is ideling the Vcore is dynamic and when the V changes it doing the buzzing sound , so the notebook is under gurantee but they didnt fix it first time ... So I need to unlock my bios and set a manual Vcore.

My notebook is Acer Aspire VN7-792G, the bios versions says its 1.08 but rev 5.0. Is this possible to do it ?

[OFFER] Acer Aspire E5-572G Modded Bios

Hello,

I want to share the modded Bios I created for the Acer Aspire E5-572G notebook.
The official bios 1.09 was used as a base.
I'm offering three flavours: Microcode 01, Microcode 07 and Microcode 21.
Microcode 21 is the latest available microcode, this is the Bios you want to use unless you want the special properties of the other microcodes.
Microcode 07 is the latest microcode that allows using the full turbo clock speed on all cores (using single core turbo with all cores).
Microcode 01 is the one you should take if you want to try this. I wasn't able to get it to work on mine (i5 4210m, HM86), but your mileage may vary.
In case you want to always use an older microcode, I'm offering a script for windows that'll keep the OS from using a newer microcode (compatible with Windows Vista to Windows 10). Frequency and other things can be set up with ThrottleStop (use the latest beta).
I'm also offering an overclocking enabled ME firmware that should (hopefully) allow overclocking on the HM87 equipped notebooks. All necessary instructions are in the included "Command.txt" file.
There are two flavours of this notebook available: Ones that use the HM87 chipset and others that use the HM86 chipset. The OC ME is only useful with HM87 as HM86 isn't capable of overcloking (tested it myself).
Additionally I offer a collection of Bios, EC, ME and FD files of this device, in case anyone wants to experiment with these for a bit (EC Modding, etc.).
I will update this bios in case there are newer parts available.

Any feedback is welcome!

Features:
-Advanced Bios Options unlocked (Advanced, Power tabs and additional options in the existing tabs)
-Nvidia 840M/940M VBioses replaced with adapted 940MX VBios with unlocked TDP Limit, unlocked Boost Table and some OC (1306,5MHz GPU/1070MHz Memory - with general usability in mind)
-Intel Management Engine: Updated to 9.1.37.1002 + All Locks Unlocked + PAVP (Protected Audio/Video Path) Enabled
-Flash Descriptor unlocked
-Microcode updated to version 21 (respectively downgraded to 07 and 01)
-Intel GOP Driver updated to 5.5.1033
-Intel VGA Bios updated to 1042
-Intel RST OROMs updated to 15.1.0.2545
-Realtek Lan OROMs updated to 2.037/2.64

Flash procedure:
1. Copy the BIOS file to an empty and with FAT16/32 formatted usb stick.
2. Unplug the AC adapter.
3. Remove the battery of the notebook - you can unlock the battery on the backside.
4. Plug in the USB flash disk.
5. Press and hold <Fn> and <Esc>, and then plug in the AC adapter while still holding <Fn> and <Esc>.
6. Press the Power button. You can now stop holding <Fn> and <Esc>.
7. The BIOS flash should now begin, the fans will spin up at max speed and the power led should blink. It should take between one to two minutes.
8. After everything is done, you can reinsert the battery and go to the BIOS (F2). There you may want to change some settings (the BIOS flash erases all previously chosen settings).

[REQUEST] HP Compaq nc6220 wifi card whitelist removal.

Hello there,
I need some help on how to remove the whitelist on my laptop, I've recently been given a hp compaq nc6220 and I started to upgrade it. However, I hit a roadblock when i tried booting with the new 3rd party wireless card that I bought. The computer gave me error 104, after doing some research I found that some companies add 'whitelist' into the BIOSes of their computers making them harder to upgrade, Does anyone have a method on how to remove this or flash a modded bios.
Thanks.

Hello all,

I need the WLAN white list removed so I can replace the slow WiFi card in my Lenovo E535 with a new Intel AC 7260.

I searched the repository and could not find anything for the E535.

I have searched and searched and cannot find a virus/malware free copy of Bios backup toolkit or Backup tools.  If someone will provide a clean I'll run and post output for modification.

  Many Thanks!

ASUS K53E Request

Hello there,

Sorry this has to be my 1st post but I know this website has become the 1 stop place for BIOS mods and looking around with the search feature I noticed someone had released and then deleted a fully unlocked BIOS for the K53E.

I Dont really honestly trust myself with editing a bios yet for this machine so I would like to ask if anyone else could put together an unlocked bios (as unlocked as possible at least)

I really want to gain control of a few areas of my laptop such as the ability to disable turbo boost to save heat and battery life.

Here is a link to the latest BIOS for the laptop: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/K53E...1473233217

A huge thanks in advance if anyone has the spare few mins to assist me!
