Lenovo N581

Hi! I'm looking to increase the size of my graphics, but it's blocked by the BIOS.

I have a Lenovo N581, running Win 10 Pro N, with InsydeH20 BIOS. Could you help me unlock all the hidden options, please? Then I could also check what else I can do.

I am pretty new to these things, so I would also need some help with the process of backing it up and installing the new one Blush

I have updated to the latest version: 5ecn96ww.exe (v. 9.01).

Thank you in advance!

PS: I commit to donate if it works Wink

Hi , I'm looking for someone to modify a bios rom for me or point me for a guide to do it myself.
The bios in question is this one from link:
http://files.insys.pt/Notebook/Modelos_S...74xS/BIOS/
The bios only allows me to select 128mb or 256mb of shared system memory
In my opinion, 128mb is too much. I want it reduced to 8mb or 32mb.
Any reply is appreciated.

-Motherboard Manufacturer and Model : Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3  Rev. 4.1
-Bios Revision : F4
-Bios SLIC : Gigabyte
-Link: http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/BIO...4.x_f4.exe
-Size: 1,17MB

I did find this modded bios on this forum but the file is no good. The bad bios size is near 4MB and the motherboard chip is 2MB.

I would like to try modding myself, but the Award Bios Editor downloadable on the bios-mod.com / Modification Downloads / Modding tools
tell me that the original F4 bios is not Award's bios.

Need help: How do I flash EC.ROM?

$

I'm new to BIOS world, so sorry if I am asking something really trivial.

I'm trying to downgrade my Toshiba Satellite C55-B5202's BIOS from version 5.10 (latest) to 1.70. Since Toshiba's BIOS flash utility doesn't allow downgrading BIOS, I downloaded BIOS flashing utility from AMI website. Also I extracted the following files from Toshiba's .exe file.

  BIOS.ROM (size: 8MB)
  EC.ROM (size: 128KB)

Using AMI's afuwin utility, I was able to flash BIOS.ROM. Not knowing what to do with EC.ROM, I rebooted the computer. I was able to enter BIOS and confirmed that BIOS was indeed downgraded to 1.70 successfully. However, I noticed that EC version still says 5.10 as below.

  System BIOS Verion: 1.70
  EC Version: 5.10

I tried to install Windows 10 anyway, but the installer didn't recognize my hard drive.

So, I created a bootable USB stick with afudos.exe on it and tried to flash EC.ROM part. It tried using /E and /EC options without success. However, I could flash version 5.10 BIOS.ROM using the following command and bring the computer back to the initial state.

  afudos.exe BIOS.ROM /p /b /n /k

So, the computer is not bricked, but my goal is not accomplished. I need to flash version 1.70 EC.ROM on this computer somehow.

I did lots of search in this forum and internet but the only information I could find wat that EC.ROM has to do with Embedded Controller. No one seemed to know how to flash it.

Any help would be appreciated.

[REQUEST] Lenovo Z500 Whitelist Removal (71CN40WW)

Hi, there

I'm new to this Bios tinkering and this forum. I wanted to install a new 5ghz wifi but didn't know about this Whitelist regulation.

I don't know how to backup my laptop bios even after searching around , I tried the universal bios backup toolkit, it just didn't work. Could you send the tool to backup bios? I'm grateful for that extra step.

Currently running BIOS 71CN40WW (V1.15)

Again very grateful for any help to remove the whitelist.

Will post more info, if you like.

Kind regards.

Hey, so I've just unlocked my BIOS it's a insyde f.24, I've changed the Vram to it's max (128mb) but isnt there a way so I can increase it even more, I have 10gb of ram, I think it should be possible.

Will this bios work on my PB EasyNote TS44HR?

Hi,

I've searched the forum before asking and there are references that this bios

https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-a...r-unlocked

Is compatible with my Packard Bell EasyNote TS44HR

but before I do anything stupid I just want to confirm it

my current bios is v1.21 and all the links for the v1.21 bios in that thread is dead (would a downgrade be ok???)

here's my result files of running the Flash Programming Tool: https://www.sendspace.com/file/yfatwd

here's the original v1.21 bios: http://global-download.packardbell.com/G...C=EMEA_13P

what I want out of this is the option to choose how much ram is dedicated to graphics, because it's eating up half of my ram and rendering my system slow, if that option is available to begin with

the hakintosh power management stuff would be a nice bonus if possible

please and thank you

.FD file for Acer aspire V5-572P-6858

First of all, thanks to those who contribute their time and wisdom to this forum!

I ran a BIOS upgrade from within Windows, it rebooted and basically did nothing. Now it doesn't POST.

I extract the BIOS EXE which reveals the following files:

Ding.wav
FlsHook.exe
FlsHookDll.dll
FWUpdLcl.exe
InsydeFlash.exe
iscflash.dll
iscflash.sys
iscflashx64.sys
xerces-c_2_7.dll

I then opened the original EXE with PhoenixTool and that didn't get me where I thought it would. I have a dump folder with a bunch of BIOS files, but no *.FD needed to flash via USB. I'm in a little over my head at this point and could use some help from the pros!

Windows 8 UEFI splash won't update?

I used AMI's ChangeLogo tool to swap the boot logo on my ASUS T200TAC, and used AFUwin to update the UEFI image.

However, the old logo still shows when I start up... and even odder, if I use AFIwin to save the existing bios (after the install), ChangeLogo pulls the new logo out of the image, not the old image.

Does windows 8.1 pull that splash logo during the OS install and save it? I don't see why I'm still getting the old splash logo even though the ROM is confirmed to have the new logo.

I've attached the saved ROM (what's currently flashed to ultrabook) and the two splash logo .bmp's.

Suggestions?

.zip   afuwin2.zip (Size: 2.81 MB / Downloads: 0)

.bmp   splash.bmp (Size: 76.43 KB / Downloads: 1)

.bmp   splash2.bmp (Size: 76.43 KB / Downloads: 1)

[request] Acer Aspire One D250 modded BIOS

Hello, fantastic site! Smile

I wanted to see if I could request an unlocked BIOS for an Acer Aspire One D250-1165 netbook. Specs and BIOS stuff below:

InsydeH20 (Setup Utility) Rev. 3.5

CPU Type: Intel Atom CPU N270 @ 1.60GHz
CPU Speed: 1.60GHz

HDD Model Name: ST98823AS

SYSTEM BIOS VERSION: v1.28
VGA BIOS VERSION: Intel V1585

Total Memory: 2048 MB
Video Memory: [8MB]
SATA Mode: [ACHI]

As it stands, with the unlocked BIOS, is there a way to also increase the BIOS-listed VGA Video Memory from [8MB]? Technically, integrated video RAM is shared with the system RAM as it is, so I don't understand why the video memory would be grayed out despite it containing brackets (maybe the modded BIOS would unlock it?)...hmmm..

After I install the modded BIOS, are there any options I should change (assuming it unlocks the Advanced Tab) for the better?

I really appreciate it, and thank you for your time  :heart

PS: I know a few, very old threads had links to the possible BIOS mod, but they were invalidated at this point - my apologies!  Blush

x201 tablet bios whitelist removal

Hey there. Looking for a known working download of a whitelist removed BIOS for the x201t.

If someone has a BIOS that also has all the advanced bells and whistles unlocked, that'd be even better, but more than what I'm looking for as I glossed over something about how using them can brick your laptop. I'm not too concerned about this, though.

Link to download: https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc...uj19us.iso
PCI ID: 8086:4239
BIOS ID: 1.40 (6QET70WW)

I've been looking at older threads but all the downloads have expired.

Thank you.
