Hello all!
i would like to ask if there's a method / utility for downgrading the travelmate p253-e bios. I upgraded the bios to version 2.21 from 2.04 (shame on me) to try to solve a resume issue. The procedure was successful (i was able to start windows) but now when i switch off the computer it doesnt power up again. If i press the power button the fans are spinning for some seconds, then it switches off. if AC is connected it restarts itself in an endless loop.
To temporary solve the issue i need to remove the RAM and reinsert it into the other slot.
So i really would like to downgrade bios to 2.04. Here's what i did so far:
1- Downloaded official 2.04 bios upgrade from acer support, and tried to install it. i get an error message because the bios version is less than the installed one (2.21). Modifying parameterS.ini solves nothing as it's recreated every time i run insydeflash.exe. i found out it's embedded in the bios file.
2- Edited 2.04 with hexedit, looked for the section containing 2.04 and changed it to 2.21. this was successful as insydeflash.exe now allows me to load this 2.04 bios. unfortunately i get an error message at reboot "invalid firmware image!!!" I think there's some kind of signature check on the installed bios.
3- Used USB recovery procedure with FN+ESC, which should ignore bios signature. Got the correct file name using andyphoenix tool (Q5WV1X64.fd), but after the bios is loaded from USB (i see it flashing for 30 secs circa) the notebook emits 3 loud beeps and shut itself down.
Obviously acer support is useless, they keep sending me RAM specifications and stuff like that. I've also tried with different RAMs sticks but the issue is precisely the same, so it's not an hardware issue.
Do you have any idea how to bypass point 2 and 3 limitations?
Thank you!!
