[Request] Core2 Quad 45nm Harpertown CPU support for AW9D

Hi guys and girls,

Well one of my d975xbx2 has bit the dust cos I did something really stupid to it. That south bridge heat sink was really tough to remove.... whoops.

Anyway I got a AW9D (non max) to replace the d975xbx2 I use only for WCG Computing for Clean Energy Phase 2.

Now here comes the sticky bit. The Bios....:-(

-bios link
Link to bios 17 http://www.hwdrivers.com/ftp/fd_-slash-M...aw9d17.zip

Link to the very last bios for the Aw9d http://www.mediafire.com/download/su10ug...w9d_18.zip PhoenixAward bios

-whats happens: I.e. It doesn't boot / it shows an error (which? post a picture)
I've had windows 8 up and running on the AW9D with a E5405 (xeon) 771 to 775 mod with bios 17. Sorry it must have been bios 15 or 16 as 17 will boot loop/ reset with a xeon installed. In device manager it shows " 4 CPUs " but every other program shows and uses only" 2 CPUs " on bios 15/16. Boinc only saw and used "2 CPUs " even though there were " 4 CPUs " in device manager. Upgraded to bios 18 and can't load windows anymore. Pentium D 945 still works perfectly fine on bios 18 though but it's a truly awful CPU for crunching CEP2 work units on.

So currently trapped in a boot install/ recovery error loop with bios 18. No matter what options I try to change in the bios I get to windows 8 install first spinning circle and it breaks down at loading winload.exe error with the xeon cpus. Trying to install windows is the only way to generate error messages to pass on to here as just booting up W8 just boot loops too quickly.

Will downgrade to bios 16 to see if I can get the xeon to work again tomorrow 5/6/14.

These pics are from the AW9D Bios 17. I have the Aida>Motherboard> Cpuid pics from the AW9D bios18 but the 18 was a beta bios. Can post if needed.

All quad core Xeons. The xeons will work on the motherboard if the motherboard is core 2 quad compatible.

The same quad core CPUs work on the D975xbx2 motherboard but the bios file has a .BIO extention so I think it is useless to link to it for updateing the AW9D with.

I'm happy to do all the leg work to get the bios up and running while it's still quite quiet here at work. The only problem is I just don't know where to start!
Heading over to the tutorials section for a read and to pray that I don't brick the AW9D. Any pointers will be well appreciated.

Looking for similar motherboards that have 975 chipsets that might have what I need and found this. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/975x...,1257.html and http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews/st.../index.php .Will go through the list to try and find a chipset to match my board.
Found this page http://www.overclock.net/t/213781/asus-e...i-and-680i so I'm on the look out for bios files for the 975x Asus motherboards that might be compatible with the award bios.
Found this list for the P5WHD http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5W_DH_...pDesk_CPU/ and noticed that the motherboard supports most if not all the socket 775 cpus Intel ever pushed out.
P5W64 WS bios files http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5W64_W...pDesk_CPU/

Dig some simple digging on motherboards.org and it turns out that the AW9D, P5wHD and the P5w64 all use the same chipset Intel 975X Express ICH7R.

The MSI 975X Platinum PowerUp has a 975x chipset and "Description - Update CPU Micro Code for CPU 5xxx series" in the last bios 7246v78 and v79. Edition http://uk.msi.com/product/mb/975X_Platin.../?div=BIOS

I've actually got a DOS window running cbrom195 looking at what I think are the components of the 7246v78 award bios.
