Asus Unlocked Bios List

Hello!

I just want to create a little repository here for all the Asus bioses I have unlocked!

All of these bioses have fully unlocked advanced tabs and the older non Skylake+ models also have unlocked chipset tabs.

Flashing Instructions:
First of all: I am not responsible for any damage you do to your laptop!

Requirements:
AfuWin 3.05.04 > Download
A backup of your original rom
The modified rom

Backup your original rom:
  1. Open a command prompt as admin in the Afuwin folder you just extracted
  2. Type "AFUWINx64.exe backup.rom /O" (without quotes)
  3. Save the generated file somewhere safe so you can still access it if you pc won't boot

Installing modified rom:
  1. Make sure your laptop is plugged in
  2. Close all windows
  3. Disable your antivirus
  4. If you have windows 10, make sure no updates are pending (so it doesn't auto restart during the flash)
  5. Copy the modified rom you downloaded to the Afuwin folder
  6. Make sure that the modified rom is exactly the same size as the backup you took!
  7. Go back to the admin command prompt in your Afuwin folder
  8. Type "AFUWINx64.exe [ROM].rom /GAN"
  9. If you get any sort of error like size mismatch, DO NOT flash the bios
  10. Press Y when prompted
  11. Restart your laptop and see if it worked

Lenovo X1 Carbon 2nd Gen (2014) 20A8 - Bios: 7CCN26WW (1.13)

Hi,

I'd like to remove the wifi card whitelist on my 2nd Gen Lenovo X1 Carbon. I've created a flash dump with the BIOS Backup Toolkit on Windows. I have access to SPI flashing hardware so it is not a problem for me if this flash chip is write protected. I would also like to unlock the Advanced menu (for configuring DVMT) but I can request that in another thread.

If there up to date documentation about how these firmware mods work? I'd like to be able to do it myself in future.

Device: Lenovo X1 Carbon 2nd Gen (2014) 20A8
Bios:  7CCN26WW (1.13)
Original Wireless Card: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260

I'm happy to donate for the whitelist removal.

[HELP] BIOS PASSWORD PBL21 AVELL BAREBONE

Hey guys,

I have a notebook AVELL LBP21, this model is a brazilian barebone. Yesterday I update my BIOS of the PBL21 bios model. But I dont can start my computer because the note freeze in black screen asking for password, and I dont know what pass is.

Somebody help me please, What can I do?

Asus P5B bios mod

Hi,  I did a 771 mod on Asus P5B motherboard. And with xeon in, it doesn't set memory timings correctly when left on auto. The timings are always set to 5-6-6-15 with tRFC 42, which is a bios default (according to amibcp). It seems to me like some kind of bug.  I wouldn't mind that bug much, if I could set the timings manually. But I can't, because the maximal value I can set for tRFC is 42 and the memory modules I have requires tRFC 52. So I would like to modify the bios to allow higher tRFC timing setting. I think it should be possible.

This motherboard has a 965P chipset, and according to datasheet, the tRFC timing is set as the lowest 9 bits of CYCTRK ACT register, which should allow setting it as high as 511. I have a Gigabyte motherboard with 965P chipset, which allows tRFC setting up to 511 in bios.

The tFRC setting in the bios is as a multiple choice option (not a number input) and the options are given as "** DRAM Clocks" strings with 5 options, 20 lowest, 42 highest. Those strings can be found in amibcp as strings with tokens 0x041D to 0x0421. I haven't found what a token means in this context. Is it some kind of pointer used in the bios to reference a string? As I haven't figure out how to use the token number, I searched for these strings in the bios binary. And I found them in Multi Language module (ID 21 according to mmtool), which seems like a dead end to me as this module is only list of strings. I was hoping that by searching for these strings, I could find a place in the code, when the setting happens. I also tried opening the bios in disassembler (IDA), but I haven't been able to find anything useful. Probably because I'm not fluent with assembly.

So now I'm lost and don't know what to try next. Could someone please help me or at least point me at the right direction?
I'm attaching the bios file. It's the latest version from Asus with xeon microcode added.
