Hi!

I have a laptop Lenovo E480 equipped with Discrete AMD RX550. I took a look on Internet and I saw something about to make an overclock to get a little more performance in 3D applications. Is it possible?

Dell N5010 with 16GB of ram, possible?

Hello.
I have a Dell N5010 laptop. It has the Intel G1 socket supporting 1st gen Intel Core CPUs. I've been using it with the i7-940XM with no issues.
Everyone online seems to agree that this laptop supports a max of 8GB of memory. Intel also says that the CPU can't take more than 8GB (perhaps a copy-paste mistake from some Arrandale CPU for the same socket, as those can in fact address only up to 8GB. The i7-940XM is a Clarksfield CPU).
However, there are numerous reports that another laptop with the same CPU support, Lenovo W510, can run with 16 or even 32GBs of memory.

So I decided to experiment and got myself a pair of 8GB 1333 MT/s DDR3 SODIMMs and installed them in my laptop. With the i7-940XM, the laptop boots into Windows just fine and all 16GBs of memory seem to be usable. However, after a few minutes up to a few hours some apps start to crash and Windows itself eventually bluescreens as well.

Following that, I got another 2x8GB DDR3 kit from G.Skill, thinking maybe the memory is faulty. But with it installed the results are the same. If I recall correctly from my testing, having only one of those 8GB DIMMs with the other slot empty didn't cause the stability issues. So It's almost like if there is more than 8GBs of memory, it gets corrupted after some time.

I also tested under two different Windows installations, two different motherboards and two different i7-940XMs to eliminate any of that as a possible cause.

One of the motherboards I tested with has the stock Dell A15 bios, and the other one has this modded version.

So my question is, could the issues I'm experiencing have something to do with the BIOS? How come that Lenovo laptop has no issues running with 16GB and mine has? The only other difference is the chipset.

Bios Mod for HPE Microserver Gen10

Hello,

I'm getting crazy trying to get a LSI 9280-4i4e and/or LSI 9380-4i4e to work in UEFI with secure boot enabled on a HPE Microserver Gen10 (each card is using the latest firmware updates), they work fine when Bios is set to legacy. Both cards work absolutely fine in UEFI on a HPE Microserver Gen10 Plus v2. Not sure if this is a bios thing but I'm willing to pay for this custom job. Attached is the latest Bios Update from HPE for the Microserver Gen10.

Thanks!

Dell Latitude 5520 - get to know password from bios chip dump?

Hello,

I am not experienced in electronics, but I really want to check if my idea is possible.

I have motherboard replaced from Dell Latitude 5520 (11th gen on i5 CPU).
BIOS/UEFI on that PC is blocked by password which I want to get it  know - even if I need some bruteforcing or stupid manual activities.
There was no computrace activated.

I was happy when I saw many posts about removing BIOS password based on .bin file dummps. I wanted to go little further - get to know the password from the dump.

1. I do not know how thebios chip is identified and  I would ask you if my assumption is good or wrong:

U2502 on PCB >> 8-pin winbond chip 25r256jven 2105 6103 moo14 marked on photos.

I have created some photos , please find it attached.

btw I'd tried google and after that I am less sure and aware.

Request for Modded BIOS with AI Tweaker Options for H81M-E/M52AD/DP_MB

Hello BIOS Modding Community,

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to request assistance with modifying my BIOS to enable overclocking features and AI Tweaker options. I am an enthusiast looking to optimize the performance of my system, and I believe that a custom BIOS would greatly enhance my ability to achieve this.

Here are the details of my system:

Motherboard: H81M-E/M52AD/DP_MB
BIOS Version: BIOS version 0604 (https://www.asus.com/supportonly/m52ad/helpdesk_bios/)
CPU: Intel Core i5-4460
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) / 1600MHz / CL9 / DDR3
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
Cooling Solution: Stock air cooling

Specifically, I am interested in the following modifications:

AI Tweaker Options (Overclocking): I would like to unlock advanced overclocking options in the BIOS, including CPU multiplier adjustments, voltage controls, and RAM frequency adjustments (XMP). The ability to fine-tune these settings would allow me to push my hardware to its limits while maintaining stability.

As my desktop is a prebuilt from Asus, the motherboard is locked. Despite my research, I've hit a dead end in enabling overclocking options. The closest solution I found,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbOGJCkfZEs&ab_channel=HoosierHardware

Swapping the Bios chip out or reprogram for a MOBO H81M-E Bios version (which has OC AI Tweaker options) (https://www.asus.com/supportonly/h81m-e/helpdesk_bios/). However, I'm uncertain about the feasibility of this method.

I understand the risks associated with BIOS modding and am willing to proceed since I have access to TL866 programmer. I am confident in your expertise and would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide in fulfilling my request.

Please let me know if you require any additional information or if there are any specific guidelines I should follow or if you know a solution to my problem!

Thank you for considering my request.

Sincerely,
[Cosmos]

Hello,

I have an old laptop ASUS R1F with Intel core 2 duo T7200 SL9SF and bought an Intel core 2 duo T7600 SL9SD hoping that laptop will boot up after swap, but screen remain black all the time without any signs of working.

Current bios is 3.11 installed from ASUS support page:
BIOS 311

These are the specs of current CPU:
T7200

Specs from T7600 which wanted to use on laptop but does not boot:
T7600

Can you please advise if current bios support T7600 or not and if not, a bios mod can be made to support it?

Also, currently only 3.2 GB of RAM is shown into BIOS as well into Windows. Size of the RAM can be increased to 4GB?

Thank you

hey guys . Will the mod be possible? I know I might have to make changes to the hw but that wouldn't be a problem. I would like to know if anyone knows how the Mac 1.1/2.1 firmware could be modified. including the cpus support that mac 3.1 supports. Is there a tool for this, could someone help me? Any ideas are very welcome.
mac 3.1 is very similar to 2.1, which by the way is identical to 1.1.
