hi there ppl. im new around here.
i have a sony f22 with core i7 2630qm with nvidia gt540m gpu. and bios options are so resticted tht i can only change boot order or some stuff like tht. factory bios prevents user to see or change advanced features. my primary goal is to unlock igpu of i7 cpu (hd3000). (don't know why but sony blocked tht)

i'm trying to unlock my bios about tht so i've been reading about this for days on the net. and i tried several times with amibcp 4.53 for changing original bios file settings but failed. i couldn't achieved any of the options revealed on bios. so tried to change default settings directly over the bios file for my intended purpose of unlocking igpu (set internal graphics: enabled, primary display: auto ) . flashed and booted. after tht windows detected there is a new video device. tht was nice but after tht installing appropriate drivers- boom! screen blanked. tried to boot from usb pendrive ubuntu , and when loading ubuntu screen blanked again. i couldn't get what was wrong. booting after safe mode , uninstalled hd3000 drivers, and reflashed original bios file and everything returned back to factory state.

i hope i could have managed to explain issue . sry for my english . and thank you.

Hi all:

Can you please unlock my bios? I've just noticed it can be unlocked cause after updating to the new version when I went there I manage to see a couple of new menus with a lot of options I've exited and they disapear, now I just have th normal tabs. Will the update be the same way the official one is, via exe? IS there any options that can brick my laptop? Sorry for all the questions.

Not quite sure if this is possible, but I figured it would be worth a shot at the least.

I currently have a Lenovo T420 laptop with a QM67 chipset, and a i5-2520M processor (which is replaceable.) There are few upgrade options possible, but these are restricted to Sandy Bridge processors (which quad cores are included but not recommended.)

1. The most recent BIOS was released in 2013 as "1.46," to which the entire executable can be found on this page: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/migr-77071. I have not tried extracting the actual BIOS out of the file though yet.

Interesting thing to note is that this BIOS updated the microcode list, but I have no idea if this includes Ivy Bridge processors (I honestly doubt it.)

2. I have not tried installing the CPU yet, but the usual symptoms for putting a Ivy Bridge processor is no screen output, but the computer does act like it boots up and halts. Someone did try this with a T520 in early 2013: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/Sandy-Bridge-to-Ivy-Bridge-CPU-upgrade-in-the-W520/td-p/766063/page/2.

3. No AIDA installed, but I can include a screenshot from a page in CPU-Z if that helps. If necessary, I can try to get AIDA64 for this.

4. The actual SSPEC code for the i7-3540M (production version) is: SR0X6.

5. QM67 *might* support Ivy Bridge processors, and I vaguely mention one manufacturer allowing them to work (so I will need to hunt around for a donor BIOS.) So far, I am just finding dead ends.

6. As mentioned, this may or may not be possible. I have also heard that they are not compatible on the electrical level for power or signaling (so this may need more than just adding or replacing a microcode.)

If nothing else, I would be curious to see the full reason why Ivy Bridges were not allowed to be used in the older chipset.

I have a problem with two Acer laptops. First have a Phoenix BIOS, second one has got InsydeH20 bios.

I made a BIOS flash in separate programmer because I thinked that the BIOS was corrupted. (I made i file dump of old BIOS). It was not a bios problem - it was a GPU problem. I made a reflow and laptop start working good. But, the laptop doesn't recognize lan card and WiFi card. The PCI-e card slot is OK because if I put inside anything else than WiFi, it recognize it (like DVB-T card). Other WiFi modul doesn't recognize.
If I load the old file dump into the laptop, it works good - but still without WiFi and LAN.
I tried change the BIOS chip from other (same type) motherboard (original BIOS inside, no one flash it at all).
but it still not working! Is any other EEPROM which can be bad (with saved MAC address)?
This problem is on Acer (Emachines) E640 - motherboard type LA-5912P.

I have a same problem on older Acer laptop, where was a bad BIOS chip - so I don't have the old BIOS dump.
Is this problem with corrupted MAC address or anything else? I didn't find anything about it on google..

Hello, I bought a GA-H87TN Mainboard and a i3 4360T CPU.
I thought it should be no Problem but then saw that it is not compatible. PC gives me no screen

hi forum,

I hope this is the right category. I was looking for help to unlock my bios to allow two sata 3 connections? My intel chipset hm76 supports 2 sata 3 6Gbps devices but Intel told me the bios is not allowing it and to ask fujitsu for a bios update. Right now it only supports 1 sata3 device.

I emailed fujitsu but they ignore me. Fujitsu has never offered a bios update ever and its stock phoenix efi bios 2.05
