I'm taking a look at my wife's Lenovo laptop, an Ideapad S205s (which is different than the S205 -Intel only for the S205s vs AMD only for the S205). The S205S was released on Sprint as a 3G-connected laptop, and as far as I can find there were never any BIOS updates released for it.

I did a backup using the Universal Bios Toolkit, which gave me a 4MB file. I then opened that file in PMTool, and was able to find the PCI IDs for the wireless card in one of the files.

From reading here though, it sounds like I'm completely out of luck without a manufacturer-released BIOS file to work with. Is that correct? I also removed the WWAN card and tried to put in the replacement card there, and while the OS recognizes the card I put in (Intel 5100), it doesn't find any networks to connect to, so there may be some other weirdness with it being put into the WWAN slot. The whitelist only triggers when replacing on the WLAN slot.

I ordered a faster Wlan card for my Lenovo Z580.
I want to replace the Intel Wireless N-2200 with an Intel Wireless-AC 7260 card.
I installed the new WLAN card and unfortunately i got the whitelist restriction.

I have worked very closely with this motherboard, and want a public place to document it.

Schematic can be found here. The motherboard is manufactured by Quanta Computer, Inc.

There are main versions of this motherboard. Version (A) relies on the integrated Intel Graphics card, while Version (B) relies on a dedicated Radeon 7650M card (1GB/2GB).
Version (B) has no graphics card switching, which has it's own ramifications. The lack of driver support required means that you can install Radeon drivers from AMD's website, but you suffer battery loss.

Version A has no modified bios.

Version A supports UEFI boot via default bios, Version B lacks UEFI support in both the default bios and the modded bios.

Version A can change UEFI variables via linux, without modifying the bios itself, version B cannot, due to lack of UEFI boot.

Version A comes with Windows 8 OEM installation, Version B comes with Windows 7.

No current bios recovery is available for either motherboard.

Hello Everyone.

I have an Acer Aspire 4752G Laptop (Intel Core i3-2370M, nVidia GT610M, RAM 2GB) which unable to boot after a failed BIOS flash, the power is on, but there's no display on the screen. I was trying to install the latest BIOS version from Acer BIOS_Acer_2.15_A_A (Version 2.15), strangely enough I recalled that my existing BIOS is 2.19 version, so I use Phoenix UEFI WinFlash tool included with 2.15 download and flash the 2.15 BIOS, it went fine and without any errors, and after the laptop restarted, it won't go to POST screen.

I've read a couple of information on the internet about this problem, and tried using CRISISDISK with different BIOS versions, renaming the BIOS to BIOS.WPH, use the fn + esc method but no luck, the flash drive would flash four times, but I think the flashing process never starts because the laptop won't turn off by itself even if i let it turned on overnight.

I've also tried the Insyde method, using the base BIOS version (2.10) and the latest (2.15) by putting the JE40210.ROM and JE40210.FD (Renamed from the .ROM file) so there two files inside a FAT32/FAT formatted USB flash drive, and then perform the fn + esc method, I believe this method has failed too.

I've read in Notebook Review forum about a BIOS.CAP file to boot temporarily into OS so we can reflash BIOS from the OS. However, I've haven't managed to find the BIOS.CAP anywhere, the links are dead.

Please let me know if you guys have a solution or suggestions for this issue, Thank you very much in advance.

Hi,
maybe someone is able to modify bios such way, that after power loss and power back terminal will start automatictly. Or maybe such opption already exist and need to be unlocked.

I want to install an Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 on my Lenovo B490 but I got the WLAN restriction warning.

Hello!

I have a SL 165z Proliant Board with two 6164 HE CPU's running fine.

I got two new CPU's : InterLagos 2.5Ghz 12 Core ES CPU's.

I've installed the latest BIOS, but it says : InterLagos is not supported on this board, shutting down in 15 sec. This is the BIOS. It says it is AMI v4.31 during flash.

There is any hope that someone can help me?

Hello! I'm new on this forum. Sorry for my bad English .
I've a Sony VAIO Duo 13 (SVD13215PXW). I would like to boot in legacy mode from a USB key, but it's impossible to find the option to change UEFI to LEGACY mode.

I have no any experience of modding BIOS . I've read some advices on this forum about similar problems, but I didn't understood anythings about modding. So please, could you clearly (maybe step by step, like for a dumb ...) tell me how can I fix the problem?
